Title: Surf's Up, Brah!
Post by: Guest on June 04, 2010, 04:18:14 AM
Surfing is very much like making love. It always feels good, no matter how many times you've done it.

Captain, welcome,
as to your avatar, I think it incited our first spam (or whatever it is) post with really explicit pictures, it is a dating site, unfortunately it's Russian.
So, unless we will have to spend time constantly deleting this trash (more work for Trishah) maybe you would consider changing your avatar? Please.

On second thought, Captain, that's our place, enjoy the freedom. We can delete and ban stupid spammers and keep the BB the way we want. Surf at will!

There was no need, Captain. I overreacted to our first spam posts, there were already quite few, you may guess the sickening content. Though, I like the new avatar better, she is simply more good looking (what I could see of her). ::)
Would you like to open a new thread for our own writings? Do the honors, please. Then would be great if you posted your scene - the one you have already written. How about it?

WHO? Captain, I have the foggiest! Remember, I didn't grow up with morning cereal for breakfast.
How about the scene, don't be shy! Do you want ME to post the scene? You know, I have it somewhere. :P

Betty Paige was like the Albert Einstein of pin up girls... she was the first one to show her full womanhood on camera... ;D

go ahead please post... you'd be doing me a big favor  ;)

I hope that Betty was a surfer, or why would you pick the avatar, right?  8)

I think you should post your scene, so you could edit it as many times as you wish.

well there was that other one that you also loved so much... okay ;)

Post by: Sven2 on June 05, 2010, 11:58:25 AM
I guess you know which one goes where. The last one we discussed should NOT go on the episodes thread, it belongs in "write your own scenes". OK?

Don't you hope that it will be so easy to back out of your solemn oath! ;D You owe us ONE. It's US, not me, that makes the whole BB.

Post by: Sven2 on June 05, 2010, 12:35:36 PM
Captain, what's with those songs you posted? How do you imagine a show where a scene starts with all of them? All at once, one after another? Why don't you open a music thread, eh?
And the scene should be posted (only my personal opinion, of course) in "write your own scenes" thread.

Wonderful songs, got to say.
So, you think it's the aliens who sent John to the planet Earth....... Hmmmm......

Open a new topic, you know how. Be a trailblazer, man!
Could you also pick just one video to go with the scene,  that'd be better than too many. Thanks a bunch!

Captain, as you requested, your wonderful scene is now on the Write your Own Scenes thread, with the movie clip "Klaatu Barada Nikto."
Is that alright? It looks beautiful there! Hope there would be many more, don't limit yourself.

Nah, build it and they come, don't doubt, Captain. I like fooling with I-ching, helps me concentrate on my thoughts, the"difficulties at the beginning" came up when I threw coins about the BB.

Just for you - to honor the thread you started.

Captain, did you read "The Dogs of Winter"? Is it worth the time? Some say it's the best of Kem Nunn. What do you think about his prose, if anything? I've read a review, looks like it's in "The Road"territory.
Which one of Nunn books would you recommend?

" Billy Yeager's Jesus of Malibu

August 04, 2010

In a style of film making more akin to John from Cincinnati or My Own Private Idaho, Jesus of Malibu joins the rather small and exclusive list of surf related feature films such as Big Wednesday, In God's Hands, and North Shore.

Jesus of Malibu is the feature film written, produced, directed, and performed by husband and wife team William and Anais Yeager who spent the last 5 years developing their unique story.
The films story and development began 6 years ago on a surf trip to Costa Rica , where Yeager fasted in the jungles for 30 days on nothing but water, spending his time alone in solitude trying to decide what his next project would be about.

Yeager thought to himself, what if Jesus was to return to modern day times, and what if he was dismayed at the condition of the world and didn't feel like witnessing to the lost, but only wanted to surf? As a surfer he witnesses crowded line-ups , sticker covered boards, competitions bad vibes and water pollution, and so for Jesus of Malibu, the ocean, surfing and Malibu is just a distant memory.

As a humanitarian, Jesus of Malibu feels that the world has gone mad, and he wants nothing to do with it, instead he creates a pirate radio station tapping into the radio airwaves where he rants on his desert radio show about the freedoms, (and lack of) , stupidity, apathy, and ignorance of man.

2010′s version of a modern day prophet.

William Yeager; " The films character Jesus of Malibu, would be an incarnation of Miki Dora meets Howard Beale from the movie Network, with a splash of George Carlin".

And BTW, where is what you were going to send to me?

Captain, burning books leads to world unrest and wars, so don't. Especially I see you promised everyone of us (right?) a chance to read the whole story, so you got to finish what you put your mind and time in. It's original, I am sure, plough on.

That's either courage or inherent to teens sense of invincibility. Maybe both and something else - the need to live fully?

Australian Teen Whale Rider Sought By Police
by Jack Ryan

The hunt continues for an Australian teen whale rider, sought by police investigating a possible case of harassing wildlife, after receiving reports of a boy spotted climbing onto the back of a southern right whale.

The Australian reports that authorities were combing the beaches near the Western Australia town of Albany at Middleton Beach.

While hopes are that the youth has not been injured or drowned, if he is found alive, he may face a fine of up to $10,000, says the report.

The WA Environment and Conservation Department had received a call about the teen whale rider.

The whales are known for coming near the beaches and appear quite friendly, but should be avoided due to their massive size and ability to unwittingly kill human admirers.

Here is the trailer for a movie called The Whale Rider; one hopes it wasn't the intention of this young man to replicate the actions of the girl in this film, an idealistic 2002 fantasy movie based in New Zealand.

The Wave by Susan Casey (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=of1kHz4bp9o#ws)

I just started reading this book and Susan makes a very good point right at the onset: on the average two huge ocean freighters like the ones I saw pulling into San Francisco Bay last June disappear at sea per MONTH! Think about that... what if two jumbo airliners disappeared twice a month without a trace, no survivors, wreckage or black boxes to examine??

One of the most amazing things I ever witnessed was sometme in the late 70s maybe 1979 when I was working the main gate at the nuclear power plant in Avila Beach, CA... there had been a series of fierce winter storms and I had a perfert view of the Union 76 pier where the pipeline is located... and saw a huge wave break over the pier and completely engulf it... don't ask me how but the darn thing withstood that pounding....

I deeply respect Laird he's like the Lance Armstrong of surfing or maybe Lance Armstrong is the Laird Hamilton of biking LOL! but I have my reservations about tow in surfing... I guess I'm kind of a purist in the sense that no human could get there without the aid of a jet ski or helicopter... therefore maybe humans have no business being out there in the first place.... to me its like getting airlifted say within a mile of the peak of Everest getting to the top and saying you scaled it... but no matter how you slice it... it takes guts to engage a 100 foot wave no doubt!

as the shark swims... this isn't that far from where my sons and i used to surf in the 90s.... unlike the weather and the waves themselves shark activity is virtually unpredictable as is each individual shark.... if this was indeed a great white it may have been a young one.... an adult shark probably wouldn't have left much to fish out of the water... the CG actually had a search on for the missing leg parts.. whew! I give his buddy a lot of credit... he actually swam toward the attack to save his friend.... that does take guts.... cause usually where there's one hungry shark there's another lurking around... i love the ocean... i love the art of surfing in any of its incarnations but man its wild untamed country and just about anybody who wants to get wet can enter it at any time...  and guess what?  great Mother Ocean and all of her children really don't give a shit about us...  ok end of sermon!

An experienced and accomplished big wave rider from Kauai, Milosky was wearing a flotation device that did not save his life. Another surfer, Nathan Fletcher, went looking for Milosky on a Jet Ski when he did not surface after his fall. Fletcher found his body 20 minutes later about a mile (1.6km) from the surf.
