Ocean- When are you heading to CA? I am about to book my trip-by I'm thinking of going a bit later this year because I have an opportunity to see John Waters at the Henry Miller. But unlike past years, we will fly into SFO and spend a few days in the north. Should be good.

Oh I have private health insurance, it costs over a third of my take home pay, but I have it. The reason I have to wait is because I may be a candidate for an alternative treatment. It's OK. I am going to PT, chiropractor and taking NSAIDs, so I will get through. My ood has lifted since I wrote that, some days are tough, that's all.

It was 4 years ago today that JFC first aired!

Thanks. We went to my favorite restaurant for my birthday, that was good. But I'm not in a very good place these days. The not walking thing is really getting to me. I saw the doctor, and the first apt. I could get for the orthopedic specialist is Aug.That means that I will be like this for another yea. I am not in  job that has any benefits, if I don't work then no money. I feel like someone else, not me. It sucks, sorry to whine so much.

I'm working my way through the Dogme 95 films.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dogme_95
It's amazing how much Danish I am recapturing just by watching the films.
Speaking of Danish, this year was the thirty third year I have talked to my ex boyfriend on my birthday, he has not missed one year. He has remained a bachelor farmer way up on the northwest coast of Jutland where the trees are bent from the constant winding blowing in from the North Sea. Anyhow, his farm is powered entirely by that wind, and so is his entire village. We are n the stone age when it comes to renewable energy.
Other than the often bleak Scandinavian films I went and saw "Water for Elephants." Girls night out at the theater that serves wine! I had read the book, which I loved, and while the movie was a less complex version of the story, it was excellent. Beautifully filmed. I have the feeling that I may have posted that on here already. That happens to me, I forget what I poste where and when, sorry.
Thanks for the recommendations, Sven. How the hell are you, anyhow?

I'm not very mobile these days. It sucks. I thought I might have surgery this summer, but I'm now thinking I will have to wait a year. I have new insurance and even though it costs just about one 50% of my take home pay, it has a very high deductible and all kinds of hoops and hurdles. I haven't even had the MRI yet, so no definitive action plan. I just know it hurts like hell when I try to walk. So I am getting fatter and fatter, crabby and depressed and not my usual charming self, lol. Anyhow, I appreciate all the suggestions for movies, books, etc. I am watching lots of Netflix instants,, most are mediocre at best. I really liked The Kingdom, the Danish series by Lars Von Trier. I may have posted that here already, can't remember. Anyhow, worth watching. I'm reading Henry Miller's "The Air-conditioned Nightmare." I've picked it up and put it down several times, finally getting into it.

In thinking about Ocean's aversion to the uppercase. Language may be flexible, but things like capitalization and punctuation are not entirely arbitrary.  Here's an example of how lack of capitalization might affect someone's meaning..."Capitalization is the difference between helping your Uncle Jack off his horse and helping your uncle jack off his horse."...Oh!!!

I was only in Vancouver once, but I loved the cosmopolitan feel of the city. And it was quite beautiful there. The rainy dampness of the NW coast can be daunting. My year in far northern CA left me longing for summer's warmth. It would be a fine place to visit, Sven, in the summer, why not? I have no idea what I am going to do in these next weeks. I am restless and longing for adventure. I'll wander in my own mind, I suppose.

I ended up bringing a spinach artichoke dip, so delicious! It was  two cans of artichokes, chopped up fine in food processor, not totally pureed. Then I took them out and put in an 8oz. block of cream cheese, about a half cup of mozzarella, about a cup of grated parmesan, about a cup of sour cream, about a half cup of mayonnaise an a few splashes of hot pepper sauce world that all together. Steamed a block of chopped spinach and squeezed all the liquid out, then mixed everything together and baked it. Yowza!
I would love to be eating that lime parfait right now, Sven. Sounds so refreshing and light.

I'm grading. About two thirds of the way through. It will be a relief to slog through the last of them. Spent the last two nights in Belmont. Taki had to go get tests at Mass General. He's lost a huge amount of weight recently and I was very worried. His blood tests were off as well. But thankfully, the cancer has not returned. I just wish he felt better. Food still goes right through him. It makes life rather difficult, but we manage.
Thanks for all the suggestions. I did see most of the the films you suggested, Ocean, though I haven't gotten to "The Fighter" yet. I'm with you about "B;ack Swan", Sven. I did not like it at all. Very melodramatic and cheesy. "Kids are Alright" was much more satisfying, but I do wish they had come up with a more creative ending. I've been watching "The Killing", the American version, I'm all caught up now, waiting or the next episode. I really like it. I bought some green garlic, leeks and potatoes, to make this:
