So Farley, when the DVD comes out, hopefully there will be lots of scenes we didn't see before and you can splice them into new episodes. Wouldn't be great!
:)
OK, a question to the bartender,
I see that some of us have taken off our avatars and shown ourselves.

When I arrive on the home page I see two folders, save JfC efforts and General... I have to click a folder to open the threads ... I guess is there an option to where the folders are already open and threads exposed to see if there is something new....

This room was just created yesterday, I figured we could use a place just to hang, I was going to call it the Snug, but we had one on the HBO boards, so I figured re-name to Barrys would be good.

Hi Trishah,
I made a new JFC Tribute video based on episode #1, Im thinking about doing one for each episode, please let me know what you think.
Peace,
Shawn
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XidigIeMCO8
Think doing one for each episode is a great idea!
Bartender !
A round of Cristal Champagne for all to celebrate our friend Jimmy's good news!
...and teddy here will stick to the shirley temples.
Make mine a double.... Teddy is driving.
Set em up again inn keeper, im buying for Grandpa Jimmy
Congrats again my friend
Hi all :)
Hey Shawn. I'm writing you here because it seems I am getting your emails but you are not getting my replies. Maybe it has something to do with your new email address. I replied just now to your last email. Let me know is you got it. Also, I added your new email to the newsletter mailing list. Did you get a autoreply for that?
Hey Farley (Shawn),
I hope you got my last email and that you are getting all your emails now at your new address. I'm quite concerned that you are feeling neglected or forgotten and want to throw in the towel. Please make sure that everyone you correspond with has your new email and that you are receiving them all. I think I can speak for everyone that to lose you would be a great loss to us.
Trishah
Did everone fall off the face of the earth or did Teddy drink them under the table???? Where is everybody?
I think that the coming holiday is distracting people. There are only so many hours in the day.
I would also like to take a moment here to give a shout-out to Farley/Shawn and wish him a good holiday and hopes that he will return soon. You are missed.
I guess Berry's Bar is still closed for the Holidays....
Well, you know Barry had a lot of ideas about the renovations but he keeps getting visions and changing the layout. And Ramon's people went back to Mexico to visit family over the holidays so...
A Flag for outside the bar?
Not a good place for a new years party....
If there had been forethought, maybe Shawn and Butchie could have maned the grill and we could have had a cookout... If I still lived in SD I would have been greatly tempted to do something like this.
It would be nice to have a JFC cook out in IB.... I'd be there.
Bar Keep pour me a strong one please.
Misses having fun and chatting with others!
Is this bar shut down or what????
Dammit! I'm always the last to know.
I thought we were "four walling" Barry's Bar?
I drink alone.....
Hey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Where are the rest of this Monad family! Cissyyost, Skor Farley Jimmy
Oil Chat Sven Waxon Ray19 MargieZZZZZZZZZZZ katie b, Big
Well then pour me a stiff one........................................ :-?
Just dropping by to say hello
Glad the forum is still active
Hey Miles! Yes it is still here. Though most everyone now talks over on the HBO boards. We will keep this up just in case...
Glad you are still out there and kicking! :D
Well we miss you Save, and your hard work will never be forgotten.
This is a sad anniversary of JFC being cancelled.
Pop in on the hbo bb's to say hello...or not if you don't want to.
Just know that you are missed
-patrick
Wow! a year since HBO killed the best and most original show they've had in years. It seems like only yesterday John started to show me the way. I've barely spent any time here but I will be back now that Myles has told me how to get here. I'm very impressed. I think all the Monads should abandon the HBO boards the way HBO abandoned us. This seems like a much more interesting and colorful place to be. I'd like to be a regular at Barry's bar. Can I start a tab?
Sure, Oil. We all have tabs here. Hear they make a mean Roy Rogers. ;)
Well save me a stool at the end of the bar and call me Norm!!
Hi Save JFC!! We miss you over on the BB!
Hey Miles. I'm still around. I check in on the HBO activity everyday and do site updates when needed. I guess I'm just feeling the loss. Also, I just had a great deal of web site design jobs that came in. It was nice to have the work.
I'm really proud of the fact that we still have a community of monadistas that still keep the faith. It would be nice if each year we could take out a full page Hollywood Reporter ad to mark the occasion... Humm.... I typed that without thinking... could that be a real thing? What do you think?

What a brilliant idea! Wondering if Zippy the Cruise Director sent you this thought? What does everyone else think about this idea? When I read this I got "goose bumps and chills" that's a good thing! We could go for the full page ad but if the funds aren't there a half page ad would still get our message of support out...
Who is tending the bar? Mr Collins.. if so send me a Roy Rogers short and tall, I'll drink them both. Thx!
Much love to all!

Bless you, and many thanks! I am improving daily, my energy is slowing restoring; it's been a very emotional and trying summer. I will win in this war on my emotions and energy source.
Posting here is a WONDERFUL IDEA! Gettem over here..
Did a little birdie tell me we/ you have a reason to celebrate a newly aquired position? Congratulations my dear friend you deserved this new job..
Good things are coming your way~ I can feel it!
Love you too sweetie!

I miss all my friends......
QuoteI miss all my friends......
I miss you too, MB! I've not been myself this summer, with Bitzy disappearance and Troy living for Basic Training on July 25th. I haven't heard his voice since he left! 1 postcard about a week after departure; no mailing address on that.. just a pre-printed "blue" card stating "THIS IS NOT YOUR SOLDIERS ADDRESS!" I received an actual letter on Thursday Aug. 14th dated the 8th.. he was excited! "I've been issued all my gear, got my M16 today, I'm excited!"... Now the hard part is just beginning for him, training and more training. But as he stated I should be "buff" when I get out of basic.
LOL kids? Gotta love em.
Love to all,
T
PS: Where is the bartender???? I'm thirsty! :o
What's a guy gotta do to get a margherita in this joint?
I'll have a Pink Lady....
I stopped in for a quick drink when I saw the site was down. Pass the tequila, it's gonna be a long night! :P
The site was down? What site was down? SaveJFC or HBO?
NOW I NEED A DRINK! 8-)
Barkeep !
Get these Ladies a drink , it's on Myles 8-)
OMG! I am SO PISSED! No wonder you (Myles) wished Hbo admin a Merry Fucking Christmas yesterday!.. lol seems they're (hbo) trying to wipe their hands of JFC... wonders if it'll pop up on Showtime now? Since it's airing on Showtime in Australia in Jan the 5th to be exact! lol Maybe Showtime bought John and Milch.
Well, it's so nice to come here and see so many of us here!
My first post here I think. You know, I still wonder why there is no more JFC. So much is there. Seems a waist.
But it's still good to come here and see you all.
I'll have a Roy Rodgers for tonight's viewing please... set up barkeep! Thanks really hoping to see everyone there!
http://www.johnfromcincinnati.net/chat 6p 7m 8 cst, 9 est! Que your dvd or dvr to the 1st note in Johnny Appleseed please.
Hey, cool joint. I hear John's Father is four walling this place.
I have a Roy Rodgers -tall.
I've sat Teddy on a bar stool with a shirley temple.
I'll stick with beer...bartender, I'll have a Sam Adams black lager,
and nice flat screen you got there, might I request JFC episode #7 please for Dec 13, I'm expecting friends.
Cheers !
Hey Save and all
I just wanted to drop by, I think we all should now and then, to say Hello !
And I want to tell you, your respectful, yet unrelenting logic in tactfully handling the 'visitor' at the HBO JFC bulletin boards was brilliant.
I have to admitt that I am not as patient in dealing with someone like that and you did such a calm and smart way of trying to show why this person was alienating folks without being disrespectul to their views.
I bow down to you skills at debating :)
I hope more of us remember that this site is here and we can talk here,
You and this site are still holding us together as a family, I hope we can hang in there. You all have helped me through a really bad 2008,
and I really mean that. When I think of the things that have happened
to me and the support that I have recieved that really made a difference, I wonder, What if you guys weren't here ?
I do believe it was fate that brought me to JFC, really I do.
Thanks,
patrick
What a good idea Myles! I have been wanting to say something to Save for her immense patience. Give to her my gratitude, for really giving it the old college try with the 'visitor', for reminding me that we are us, you know, Monadistas, and we are not our worse selves that the 'visitor' really can bring out, lives to bring out? Anyway, you are amazing Save, in your giving, and caring, you remind all of us, who we are, really.
Myles, I don't know either. Honestly, I don't know what I ever would have done this past year without you all. You've all been here, for the worst times and the best ones too, and without you all, I don't think I'd have made it through with Mom. So, Thanks! Thanks for being who you each are, and being here.
Four times? Okay, was scared for a minute, wasn't allowed to send you PM Save.. this is , maybe, 3? just taking up space folks, wanna be able to send or respond to messages.. pay no mind, please!
You are welcome Myles/Patrick. I am sorry that I did not step in earlier when things started going haywire on the Politics thread. OTOH, maybe she needed to establish herself the way she had before what I did could make an impact on her.
So, if you ever have to confront this kind of situation again, and I'm not around, (1) have a clear idea in mind of the end result you want, and (2) let the person know in what way you are on their side, (3) focus on the behavior not on the content.
Now, I think we should go find those Monadista's that have been misplaced.
Calendar for Retrospective (http://www.localendar.com/elsie?JSP=PublishedCalendar&mode=PUBLISH_PUBLIC&search_type=M0&start_date=03/19/09&calendar_id=371455&rss_link=undefined)
Hey Save, thanks for the calendar! what are we supposed to do with it? tell you? what days? I'm really looking forward to this..
It will be a spring cleaning for the mind and heart..
Add your screen name to the hours that you are NOT available. Like you would do:
cissyyostNO in every hour that is not good for you. Then I'll find a time when most people can make it.
Just dropped by the bar to say
HELLO
Hey Myles!
Barry seems to be very busy. Lot's of guest starring roles on hour-long drama shows. Saw him 3 times last week alone. Guess that's why he hasn't been around here, huh ;)
OK, I'm here to tidy the place up a bit.
Hmm, new tablecloths, check. Well stocked bar, check.
Got some autograph pictures of the JFC cast for the walls, check.
Oh, the lighting, dim it down a smidge, check.
Hmmm, need a menu of bar food munchies... and a cook too.
Opps, forgot the polish for the bar rails....be back soon
Just want to say Save, you made an excellent observation yesterday on the JFC threads 'Further days..'
I got to admit to getting riled up thinking the place was closing down
and yet I have not made any real contributions there.
For me lately, it's like the JFC boards are flatlining but I just can't bring myself to say, OK, pull the plug now, it's OK to move on and remember the good times there.
I dunno, maybe its just me, can't let go.
Bartender, hit me again, and make it a double !
.. no teddy, you've had enough.
Hey Patrick! It's good to come here and find you were here too! No posts at ep 10, guess I should look where rooms are still open.
Just wanted to say 'Hi'.
Cissy
If I had a crayon I would write KILROY WAS HERE...... :)
Hello there !
Well SaveJFC, if you didn't already know, I think the last wave has come to our little home at HBO. We knew it would, They are redoing the whole Forum, we were notified that we would have to re-register come January 20, what they waited to do was to notify everyone at 5am on Jan 13 that the hbo forums would be shut down at 5pm and that no the current content will not be going over to the new forum, now my guess is, and I may be wrong, is that they may finally purge the old shows and forums. I can't say I blame them really since the Deadwood, JFC, Sopranos, SFU, etc have been off the air for years and the forums were more of just a social gathering that had not much to do with hbo shows, for those threads anyway. It was sad even though we didn't have much left at JFC, it was still a place for me to check in on these past years. It was like losing a friend at 5pm - no more.
So there's the scoop, Maybe they will bring back th forum but I don't expect it next week
Hope you are well and your endevors are successful !
Happy 2010 ! - Long Live JFC O--<
-patrick
This is indeed a sad thing. I am so glad that I did put this forum together as an alternative! But it is sad that we will lose so much history.
If you want, I can recreate the most active threads we had over at HBO so we can continue them here. Just post or email me a list of the ones you want to continue and I'll create them. admin@johnfromcincinnati.net
OH... It became available so I bought SaveJFC.COM for $13.95 a year. So much for that guy wanting $4500 for it way back when!!!!!!!!
I have intentions to move the whole site to a new server soon but my free time for this is limited. I will also update this forum software so we don't get all those spam PMs... ugh.
Also, I was thinking that maybe we could do a yearly reshowing of it the same weeks it originally aired. I still have the mailing list. It's an idea to consider.
I love that there is still a core of us still in touch!
I'm still standing!
JIMMY! There you are! So glad you are still around! We've missed you.
I think it's time to have a viewing. ::)
Shout out to Jimmy , HEY !
TRISHAH,
Thinking of you today, Hoping and praying that you get well real soon.
- patrick
Thank you for the get well wishes. I am still in the hospital. I got a rent-a-center laptop and am using hospital wifi along with gotomypc.com to work from my home computer. rent-a-center said they have never delivered to a hospital bfre and every one was impressed at how dedicated to work I was. If they only knew!
I sitting up for the first time since thursday. Oh, for those who don't know I had to have emergency surgery for burst apendix that was infected. I'm on tones of antibiotics intervienous until they are sure all of that is cleared up.
Apparently I'm lucky to be here.
So I'm still kicking and working so all is well. Thanks for caring.
Hey, it's great to find you guys here! Trishah, good to see you here in the bar! I thought the hospital folks would think, huh? But taking care of what is wrong physically is their job, your mind is fine it sounds like to me!
Do good Trishah, keep getting better. [smiley=engel017.gif] [smiley=engel017.gif]
Hey Trishah,
Want to check in and say hello, we all hope you have recovered and are doing well. Thinking of you and hope all is well.
- pat
It works at last.
Norm!
Hey I like this place. It has a good feel. Great stuff on the walls. It feels like home! Think I'll belly up!
Yes Walter,
it is a nice place, and open once again !
Hello All
Yea, this place has got everything! Still waitin on that darn bartender, though!
Is that possible, John?
That's possible, Butchie!
Skor should be mixing the drinks, she knows them well.
I would've send her an invitation, but she is partying.... Maybe.....

Just learning the ropes, how to post a video here.
Always nice to have a jukebox!
Trishah promised to make posting videos possible. I know that Deadwood people have that on their forum, very convenient and entertaining.
Now, my favorite is Cosmo on the rocks, what's yours?
On the serious note, what do you think we should do to celebrate in style JFC anniversary? I thought of asking
Wayne Wilson and Steve Hawke to tell us something about the show, or write to Mark Ostric, or someone else with the same request, but I can't write a good letter, and I don't know who will.
Your ideas?
I think celebrating the anniversary is a great idea. Is it possible to do an "on-line" parade?
I'm not sure what that would look like - but perhaps it might include:
a series of guests commentaries or stories
videos
pictures
Save JFC efforts
A retrospective viewing
personal fan updates
Milch lectures
videos from music used in JFC
Just some thoughts.
I guess we couldn't have a parade without the Stinkweed Girls!
Great ideas, so we don't have much time to prepare! Let's delegate the responsibilities, as good (hahaha) managers do. Who is the best for what task? I trust your organizational skills.
Couldn't you guys pose as the stinkweed girls. LOL
Guess who's back?
HI EVERYBODY
I know Waxon will look gorgeous in a bikini, 8) :o :P Farley, good to see you claiming the place for yourself!

Fars! How good to see you! Are we here? How exciting!
"In preparation of the celebration"
To everyone interested and Save (T-a):
The BB is open but our numbers are abysmally low.
Since after the exile from HBO, our permanent move to the new home here coincides with the 3rd anniversary of JFC premiere, I think it calls for a "big and huge" public announcement. I mean that we (Save) have a mailing list of some hundreds of e-mail addresses of JFC fans, who haven't been contacted for a while for the lack of news.
I think and suggest to send everyone an invitation to the revamped JFC forum for the family reunion.
The time is tight, the June 20th is close, so we have to decide ASAP.
Any thoughts?
Maybe we also should ask in the invitation, if anyone wants to say a couple of words about the show and its effect on their life, or ask to say anything whatsoever about it. I hope that would remind people that the board exists and is active once again.
JFC deserves a parade!
I do have the mailing list and I have a way to send out mailings to all of them, so all we need to do is figure out what we're doing!
And to that end... I have an idea of how to do the Parade!
http://www.thehorizontalway.com (http://www.thehorizontalway.com)
I am talking to my programmer to see if we can add a commenting script to it so that each comment will appear to the right of the other... So it will really be like watching a parade ;D And I've asked him to make it possible to add video to the comments... what's a parade if you can't see it in action!
I've told him the deadline is the 20th. I'll keep you informed.
Trish, the e-mail should be an invitation to the renovated headquarters, not something grand though, and I think it would be better if you and Back (or any one of you) could write that. Would you mind asking Back to write an e-mail? I read again his letter to Milch and liked his style very much. By the way, maybe we should send a thank you letter to Milch, not that it would produce any results for JFC. That would be just a sign of our appreciation of the show and gratitude. I don't know if that's such a good idea though. He never answered to Back's letter or anything else we sent as I know.
The horizontal layout is interesting, if we also could incorporate still shots/pictures from JFC. Think of something else, you have the knowledge. Parade is just a symbolic word for a celebration here, I think. Whatever we could accomplish would be OK by me. Definitely better than doing nothing.
I have moved the technical discussion to another thread.
And I have emailed BackInTheGame to see if he's up for, well... getting back in the game lol.
Sry, couldn't resist!
Oh, thanks for telling me, I thought I'm getting nuts!
Hi, Patrick!,
Say a word if you are still around. I made myself an invisible Sven - to watch over and "slay" spammers.
Did you notice almost 2000 of unknown (let it stay this way!) entities? I wonder what are they doing here.....I visit Deadwood forum on occasion, there are only 37 registered, but they come and talk, keep their connection.
Great quote from Ovid, Patrick. (on FB). That disaster is terrible and a warning.
Waxon, regarding the tattoo on Moana fingers that you posted on the technical thread and on FB.
I saw a short fragment of a documentary about Hawaii surfers. The "wolfpak" (sic!) marks Moana as one of vigilantes who are self appointed protectors of order on Hawaiian beaches - they stop violence, fights, etc.
Thought to mention, though you may already know that.

Didn't know where to put it, so it landed in Ep. 18
Kai and Shaun help out in the Gulf
feel free to edit, add, fix up ;D
That's a great scene, Patrick! That's what they would do, definitely, you are seeing that right. No, no need to touch or move it, however it probably would fit better at some future point in the story. But - it's not written yet, so why not leave it there? Or, if you wish, move it to "Write Your Own" thread, up to you.
That's a wonderful and surprising gift, Patrick. Thank you very much!
There should be even more coming from you, I'd say! ;D
Patrick, it seems to me that the scene will be better noticed - and appreciated - on "Write your Own" thread.
What do you think?
Hi guys, just wanted to say hi!!! I love the parade idea like a carnival of JFC fun.. Stay Strong

I think you are right, I didn't see that thread - it has been moved ;D
Great, Patrick!
Farley, what about a compilation of our efforts to save JFC - combining pieces of different videos and ads, etc. that you could make into one video? You are very good at that! The music could be a problem, YouTube will probably remove it, but there are some songs from the show that are old and have no copyrite protection.
Would you think about it? We did already some interesting things, - you, Ray, Trishah, - why not make a tribute to ourselves? ::) ;D
A great idea!!
There is plenty of music there that is old enough, and farley farls, you are great editor, you'll be nominated for a 'Butchie Instead' award!!
(teehee)
Invisible visiting ghosts better declare their presence! :-[ :D
The best way is to say something. "Hmmm", or "Agrh", or "Oh, my!" is good! Maybe later even a word or two....would be a precious gift to the small JFC community.
Shhh! I'm lurking!
(is that kind of like a tree falling in the woods?)
Hell, no, Waxon! It's called freeloading, man! Speak up or forever hold your peace. :o Oops, sorry, is that from a wedding ceremony or something?
Remember our late night chatter?
So, what do you want, Butchie Yost?
Can you see that I am online or not? (I tried to make myself invisible)
You seem to be invisible.
I am intruding and evanescing!
No, don't leave just yet.
To answer the question, "shepherds" we are not, so the second title is better. What do you think?
Did you see "Conspiracy" movie? It's about secret meeting in 1942 of top Nazis.
Yes - i saw the movie. Unsure of the connection. Except for the secret meetings part - but I guess our secret meeting are ... NOT SO SECRET NOW, ARE THEY! hahaha!
I didn't mean us, was just reading something and remembered the movie. I think it's very well made, the threat and dread is felt in every scene.
So, go ahead with the questions thread. That one we talked about bothers me for the long time. Maybe Eccles knows the answer, or we would together figure it out.
I opened the thread as "Questions, Answers and Theories"
And BTW - I think shepherds we are (at least i hope - to some degree)
But certainly without crook or understanding ;)
I am afraid to consider myself more than a student of something big (life?) or very small, like the way to distinguish birds songs, or properly use the perfect tense.
I swear it was Trishah making some software changes, the BB now works well after she left, hahahaha. She won't be mad, I hope. She is such a hardworking girl, our hero.
Sven, you are big and huge!(as Leona Helmsly) Don't think otherwise.
She was old and nasty, thank you! :'( ::):D
Is she besides DEAD?
Have a good night (I have to be up early)
And don't talk bad about me when I'm gone.
Have I ever?
Sleep well.
Waxon, I see you are here. Want to talk? I am reading jokes about religion, (no kidding! :D), some are absolutely hilarious. Want to read one? I can translate some for you.
Religious jokes - some would say that is redundant! haha
Sure - go for it.
A man is lost in the desert, he needs water, gets desperate and complains to God: "Oh, Lord, I am dying of thirst, why are giving me shovels instead of water three days in a row?" I think we are that man, quite often.
A gloomy man stands in a subway car thinking: "People around - jerks, wife - such a bitch, children - little monsters, boss - idiot". His guardian angel is behind him with a notebook and a pen writing it all down and thinking: "I've heard it already, why would he want the same again and again? But once he orders - I have to deliver "...
Plenty of shovels not enough digging... very true!
yes, the gloomy man is very typical (same old story for the guardian angel) If I understand that one correctly.
Apologies for the terrible translation, it's your posts on the questions thread reminded me about those situations in the jokes. We are not seeing the help, (not digging), and don't know that help is close, so we are ignorant and unhappy. That's my Pollyanna side is speaking!
Sorry, was difficult to switch from one language to another, I get tongue tied afterward sometimes.
True, true.
Can you imaging translating a knock knock joke to another language? hahaha
My carriage just turned into a pumpkin - goodnight, all!
Evening folks,
nice to see you guys here and fun to write more.
Patrick! Great to see you :)
Yes, it's been great talking about the show again. Should we have a marathon DVD re-watch? I'm feeling the bug. ;D
Ahem, Patrick, are we to understand your words as your intention to write more? That would be great!
Get Back- The Beatles (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WtUgrolYxro#)
Sven's implants must have overheated and shorted out her internet connection. She'll be back in the game soon.
:D
That's very funny!
Actually, I think I might have - by mistake - blocked the IP address of where she is vaca-ing. But I fixed it now and she should be joining us for a parking lot bar-b-que soon.
My apologies for being a bit too aggressive with the banning of unknown IP addresses. :-[
Hey, :'( I felt I was accidentally transported to Arizona, being declared guilty until proven innocent! AND - I have a gut feeling that Waxon, who is vacationing as well, got his implants shorted too! We'll find out soon enough, after the holiday weekend.
Greetings to everyone, celebrate in style, be safe.
Happy 4th Everyone!

Little Bristol, my town
My town goes WILD for the fourth! The parade will be tomorrow, and it will last at least 4 hours, maybe more!
Happy Fourth of July, Monadistas! Enjoy!
Caught the parade of the ocean waves and at night fireworks above the harbor, accompanied by the sounding horns of dozens yachts. Truly the best of both worlds. Oh, yes, it's hot!
Happy 4th, all. (a little late)
Anybody got a light?
Electricity made us dependent. Ever tried to live without heat in winter? Or - internet, for more than a day - it's torture. How was your trip? I am still in Newport, swimming, didn't get a laryngitis like Captain, only a serious sunburn. I get it every year, never learn. :D
The wife and I each assumed the other would take a laptop - and neither of us did. Have to admit - it was kind of nice. (Blackberries helped, though!)
Good waves where we were - no oil - but the evidence was nearby - limited seafood :'(
Its official - BP sucks worse than HBO (but that doesn't take HBO off the hook)
The worst - we will not change a single thing in our gluttony for modern comforts, spill or no spill.
Was reading a poem when you asked about the light, Waxon. . Did you mean THAT light?
this kind of fire
by Charles Bukowski
sometimes I think the gods
deliberately keep pushing me
into the fire
just to hear me
yelp
a few good
lines.
they just aren't going to
let me retire
silk scarf about neck
giving lectures at
Yale.
the gods need me to
entertain them.
they must be terribly
bored with all
the others
and I am too.
and now my cigarette lighter
has gone dry.
I sit here
hopelessly
flicking it.
this kind of fire
they can't give
me.
That one is easy, even Bukowski thought so. Or - did he?
Something like that, I guess :D
OK. I am leaving for zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Until tomorrow. Think about a scene!
A question, may I? What books do you read to your kids now? Or what are they reading?
Will do.
Sven, are you still looking for some book titles?
Waxon, I am curious as to what difference is between the reading list for grade school students 30-20 years ago and today. Do you find anything on your daughter's reading list that you yourself had to read at that age?
Well always; but I've been feeling that way a lot myself of late...
... so I thought I'd stop in and say hi; seems like y'all have been busy, so I'm gonna need to catch up.

I couldn't tell you. I remember Dr Suess - but I was probably older when it was read to me - or I read it than kids today.
HEY, BACK! Don't be a stranger.

Yes a lot is happening. Please check out the parade page I've created. I'd like feedback before we go live...

Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack, how's it going? The toes and fingers and all? Guess your summer is busy, eh?
Stay in touch.
Forgot my password again, had to sign back up and not only, 1 - think of new password, but then, 2- unscramble a word, and, 3-do math! Lots of reading to catch up on - Liked seeing the parade! I couldn't post to it (probably have already forgot new password) or 9 years old computer w/questionable DSL is just not the Camino. I saw there was a tech thread, I'll go look... Very Glad I missed out on being a stinkweed girl though!
:D Oh, Tali, that's cruel! If I had to unscramble something, (besides scrambled eggs, that is) I'd just quit and go home! Or I'd ask Skor to do that for me, she's got something like a black belt in Scrabble. Is that the same game? ??? 8) On top of all that the math problems - that would've done me in!
How could your computer last that long? Do you give it vitamins, what's your secret?
No, you'd make a beautiful Stinkweed lady!
P.S. Tali, you don't need to remember your password. Just Look at the bottom right when you log in next time and mark a little box "forever" to stay logged in.
Hello folks! Here I am totally relaxed, actually have time to write and think, BUT no internet or cell service. I'm unable to spontaneously post much, except for times like now, when I am at the local library!
A note to every visitor - thanks for reading, why don't you register and introduce yourself, we'd have a chance to know you better. "And who are you? - I am a friend of Shaun. - He is my friend," or something like that, you know?
Note to the old friends visiting - say "Hi, I was here", or just write your name, like people do, sometimes on overpasses, sometimes on a cliff, sometimes on the sandy beach at the ocean.

Hello Friends! Just got back online recently after a hiatus of several months. Didn't miss the internet too much but did miss checking up on the good folks here. Sven has been trying to coax me over here through FB messages and I thought she was trying to lure me back to the FB threads. It finally dawned on me(just yesterday) that she has been talking about the BBs here! I found an old message of hers that had the link to here and after 10 or so trys at the username and password I hit the jackpot and now you are all stuck with me again. I just got a netbook so I'll be around imposing my musical and poetry tastes on the monadistas out there. Love to see Sven posting Bukowski...warms my heart! I am AMAZED that there is activity over here. I had been a big advocate of posting here(even before HBO pulled the plug) but everytime I stopped by there was NOTHING being posted. I basically gave up on this site. It is truly amazing and shows the power and impact that this great show had on our lives that there is activity over here. I'm adding this site to my favorites and will be around more often. Love to all!
While I'm at it...thanks to Trishah!
RAY!!!! I am smiling, just signed on and saw your post. It is so very good to see you here. Being offline is not the worst thing. I am currently on an internet "diet", spending time in Vermont, lakeside in a rather remote area. I am too hardcore to go cold turkey, I check in at the library, haha. I am very curious to know if you have been writing, and whether you would share anything with us.
Hey Ray! There you are! Great to have you back around. I'm really busy and don't get a chance to post here right now as often as I would like but I do keep checking in... and of course make myself available if there are any tech problems.
How is your work going? And your family? Hope all is well with you and yours.
Did you see that YouTube pulled our 2400lbs of Birdseed video? Sony thought it violated copyright infringement. But there is still a copy here on the main site. Couldn't let that one go to waste after everything it took to put it together.
I live in florida and had to go to San Diego this pass week for business. Why being out their I had to stop by Imperial Beach to see where JFC was filmed. It was good to see the hotel from the show. Any news on if they are going to give it another go?
Hello and welcome, jcalmit!
Hope you would stay, look around, maybe you find something that interests you.
Would you like to tell what was you impression of the Snug Harbor/El Camino motel? Is it still for sale, with boarded windows?
Unfortunately, unless John and his Father give it a push, JFC is a thing of the past. Mr.Milch is writing and producing "Luck", a show for HBO about race track. If you look in the "Milch and JFC Newsfeed" thread, you may find something informative about that new show, and many good bits and pieces saved in memory of John from Cincinnati.
Come again, come often, contribute to the BB, talk to us, we are a friendly small group.
We are glad you have found us.
Yes, pull up a chair, jcalmit. Nice place here, but the folks are little strange... a little JFC crazy. (We kind of liked the show) haha
Actually, I think its safe to say most of us saw it as a very significant work of art. It made an impact on us, for sure.
So how was the Snug? Still up for sale? We've been thinking about buying it!
Great to see you, Ray! I trust you are well. Word on the streets is we are going to have a parade! (What you're wearing will be fine). The stinkweed girls will be there... ;)
For the landlocked?
tarp surfing (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t6-vb20srZI&feature=player_embedded#)
Skor, I saw this video a week ago, tried to find it on YouTube, as a TAP surfing, :D :( :-[, of course it was nowhere.
Thank god I am not a surgeon, or I'd cut off some poor sod wrong leg or something.
Note to myself: pay attention, kids, what a change one letter makes.
;DJust stopped by for a drink, what is the bartenders name.... hello skor and sven and rayyyyyy, where be the one named cissyyost????? If she were here I would buy her a drink...lol 8) Well bottoms up to her, and oilgatsam, foxieroxie and Rn.... Anybody want to start the MOVIE word game??????????????????
Hi, Laurel,
Seems that Oil still haven't found this place, Cissy Yost knows about it and posted once or twice, the latest registered user is foxrox, I'm guessing it's foxieroxie, as to the movie game or any other thread - why don't you open one yourself? It's your forum, make it to your liking. Anything else you want to do here - do it!
Hi Sven, thanks, I know of some who miss that thread and the jfc bb atmosphere...... OIL, was a great guy. What or where is the Double nutzel or AKA, Jimmy 2-Nutz
?????? I caught up with the one and only cissyyost, I wish she would just peek in.
Ok, to early for a drink? i don't know your name Mr. Bartender, but I will call you Barry.... Heres My problems..I need something different. :'( I am tired of the same ole same ole......... :( It's too hot to dance and the fields don't need plowed ;).. I hate this time of year..... :'( it can't be soon enough for those Northern winds to return....
By the way Barry... have you been to Missouri? 8)
Oh heres a name Myles, Barry have you seen Myles. I see him every once in a great while posting on that repulsive facebook, if you see him tell him HELLO ;)
Why is Facebook repulsive, Laurel? I have lots of friends there. If we had lots of friends here, it would be fun, but we can't seem to lure folks to be here at the same time. It is a message borard.
Yes, I guess... You have what it takes for Facebook... I just don't seem to fit in anywhere...... 8) It's a wonder I haven't been married several times...since I seem to get bored sooo easily.... :'(
Facebook is ok for some. Not belittling fb Skorda... This place is like the first place, the first love.... FB is like a front porch to gawk and wonder. This place and the original JFC was more like a fireplace, somewhere more homey and safe so to speak...
Respectfully disagree with Skor. Ma'am, we have friends on the BB. Not hundreds as on Facebook, but I personally like every one of my friends here and I hope I got to know them better than one would know an accidental partner. The visits to JFC site increased and will be more numerous, although never reaching thousands and that's fine. "For many are called, but few are chosen". :) We have no CC or Fahroozool, Ms. Hilton with the likes of John Boehner are deliberately staying away. Heaven.
Everyone seeks whatever they want, I guess, nothing's wrong with it either.
Laurel, you do not need anyone's approval to be yourself. Just be. ;D
Love.
Edited to add: the only thing missing here on the BB is the "instant chat" box. Wait, is there an expression "a chatterbox"?
Thank mother goddess of Captain, we can't be turned into that pitiful creature. :D :-X
I understand laurel's point as I only begrudgingly got a FB account. I, too, am not the FB "type".
I think there is an analogy here with JFC itself... How everyone was on their own path and each of the characters used their own experiences, what worked for them, and used it to transcend it and they all ended up in the same community.
Like Freddie using his drug business to save Butchie's life. (Any one else have an example from the show?)
I hope that this site and forum is like JOHN himself... He just accepted everyone (as we are all frail creatures indeed) and became the catalyst for community healing.
Hi trishah, very well said...I am not knocking Fake book :D :D :D :D
So glad you are back with us Laurel!
And I love having the movie game back! What a great idea that is!
Hi people, family and friends! I finally found the conversation! I was starting to think that reported conversation just wasn't happening! I know my hours are strange to some, but gosh, wasn't ever seeing anything posted past 2007. I'm glad I finally found you all. Never claimed to know how any of the internet works! No matter now, here now, very good to feel familiar energy online again.
I never thought in a million years that I'd join a social situation like fb, and it took several long distance calls plus lots of PM's and emails to get me to go to FB, cuz, I heard that everyone else from our group was on facebook talking, keeping that connection alive, even before HBO closed the doors.
Fun to see Eccles there. Course, it's always fun to see Eccles, wherever :)
Best though, is to know this home that Trish prepared for us so long ago is here now when we all need it. Thank you Trishah!
Skateboardanimation (http://vimeo.com/8461831)
I am so happy to be notified of the "virtual" parade! I still have my JFC t-shirt "I don't know Butchie instead" ... my dvd box collection of the series and a framed JFC promotional poster hanging in my entertainment room. I was so disapointed when JFC was cancelled and cut short! I was and will always be a fan of the show... and of John Milch. I have NOT been a fan of HBO since!
Here's to good Karma for all JFC fans!!! =)

Hey Captain Lippy! Good to see you again. There are several of us who have not quite "gotten over" JFC. So this is the place to be! After they took JFC off of the HBO site, it became a horrible place, or so I think. Dark, confusing and not very interesting at all. I do hope you will come here often and interact with us, this is our haven and we will not be chased away!
I filled my quota of posts for a week or two. Sorry to occupy so much room on the BB. Now I should be away, where is this away - in room 24 or room 45 or in a courtyard, I do not know yet, but it's somewhere close to Snug Harbor.
I promise to return.
Love.
Stay cool, y'all!
We'll be here when you get back, Sven!
OK...so what happened to the "Left Coast" thread. Did someone delete it? If so...why? Please respond.
Hey Skor, Wax, Trishah, Sven, Cissy and laurel(that you Rhonda?). Ray here. Been having all sorts of trouble getting on here so I just re-registered under a new name. Problem solved! Don't sweat it Trishah!
Hey Zip, how's it going...I had problems registering at first... Yep it's m,e~~~~Rhonda
I'm so glad you got back on Ray! I really have no idea why it's giving most people such a hard time using their old information. The only thing I can think of is that it has something to do with the IP address you are now using. But as long as you could get back in, that's all that matters.
Yes, we did have a "left coast" thread that the person who started it deleted. I don't know why. I know how frustrating this can be for people who like the topics... So, I just changed the permissions so that no one can delete a thread they started. To do so, they will have to contact an admin to do it for them.
You are welcome to start the thread again if you want.
Hello everyone.. LTNS.. hope all are doing well. The boys want to have a JFC marathon before school starts. :) we may have to do that
I had planned on continuing the West Coast thread, apparently the author of the thread did not want me to do that, so I won't.
Skor, feel free to start it again. I have made it so no one but admins can delete threads so it will be safe to continue with it.
hello monadistas !
Patrick! So nice to hear from you!! How are you?
Hello trish, Patrick and anyone else who is lurking around :-*
Hey Patrick, Ray, Rhonda!
Can I buy you all a beer?
Good morning wax... How about a very large cup of coffee. (yawn)
I'll take a pint of Guiness :P

Make that 2. And a large coffee, please.
Hi, Waxon, good having you back. Zippy, always a pleasure. Brig, remember me? :D No hard feelings, eh? Laurel, you are such fun to be around, thank you! Skor, tell about California, you lucky one, share the pleasure (or anguish!) Patrick, are you a "no show"? Farley, we are here, remember?
Who else is missing the roll call? Many, I'm afraid. Maybe some will find their way back. We can always hope, can we not?
OceanFlower.... hmm, not a Fried Chicken then, huh? Come on, we understand, :D
What else and who else happened here in my absence? Oh, those people who register and never post, I always wonder why are they here. As I discovered, they look at each other profiles and probably exchange some commercial information, as they predominantly have websites selling vacuum cleaners, or space heaters, or who knows what else.
To the bar now. A bottle of rum, bartender!
"Fifteen men on the dead man's chest" etc., etc.
All is good, but no internet here in the canyon. Am writing from the parking lot of Fernwood, as we pul out.........later!
Modern technology... gotta love it... well, sometimes lol
S K O O O R!
Wow, what a deep canyon!
Are you there somewhere?
I am back in RI. Spent today in re-entry mode. California was amazing beyond belief and I had many astounding adventures as well as some peaceful pleasant days. Ah, but this is the Hit or Miss thread, so I will not bore you with personal trivia.
Books that I read and like: David Benioff's "City of Thieves" and "Sputnik Sweetheart" by Haruki Murakami. Others as well, but I'' start with these two. Has anyone read them?
I have been offline for much of the summer, and the internet is now strangely off putting. I am untrusting of anonymity in a way that I never was before. Yes, the sudden deletion of threads shocked and hurt me, but it's not exactly what you might think. I did want to write, yes, but it is more a bigger statement of what it means to trust and connect with others. The joys and dangers. I am not articulating this well, maybe one day I will, not today.
I was on the wrong thread, thought it was Hit or Miss. Maybe I need to get some sleep. Too much traveling, but since I am here I will have a gin and tonic. Who is tending bar, anyhow?
I am still drinking coffee, still the A.M. here. Some of us on facebook should know that FB has a new check-in app. I had heard of this on the news a few days back. I went in and made sure mine was not checked. :-[ Keep an eye on your privacy settings!

Hi-dee-do all!
Finally got in.. have no clue as to why my user name has 1959 after it.. oh well it will have to do!
Just wanted to say HELLO, and that I love and miss you all so very much. With my cancer treatments,
traveling to and from.. hugging the toilet doesn't leave much time for chatting.
If anyone happens to see our beloved Zippy please send him to my Window. Sure could use one of his "miracle kisses" about now.
I'll try to drop by more often. Hopes everyone is doing well. Where is Doug aka Jimmy2Nutz?
Again much love to all..
PS: Trishah, love the parade and the new site.. I'll have to check more of the new site out when I have the time and energy.
Chat! Great to hear from you. I have been thinking about you - and wham! here you are. You just keep that window open, honey, we wouldn't want Zippy to break his beak! Come here as often as you can - and stay as long as you like. We got some good vibes here - and that's a commodity these days.
Welcome home, Skor. Another injury free trip! You're on a roll! I think Ramon is tending bar - your drink should be right up (he just went back to the kitchen to get an order of figs for the Captain). ;)
Hi everyone :) nice to see you here. I was just thinking about you too Tammy, it is good to hear from you. Don't see a listing for the 'new site', saw the parade, which said I'm not Cissy Yost when it says to click here, but some days are like that.
Wish I could find any of you, from reading below, I'm probably not supposed to be writing this here, there seem to be other places where my post would be more in tune or relevant to the name of the room, I apologize for not being able to find them.
I do keep coming by, I was being distracted by the posts from 2007, thinking I must be in the wrong place. Again, Hello old friends, good to see your posts here :)
Looks like the old gang is getting back together! This is really wonderful.
Cissy, it might help to go into your profile and change your layout so the most recent posts are on the top of page 1.
Profile > Modify Profile > Look and Layout Preferences > then check the boxes next to "Show most recent posts at the top." and "Show most recent personal messages at top." Then save.
Also, this is Barry's Bar and anything you can say there you can say here... we don't discriminate ;D But if there is something that obviously goes under another topic area then it's best to post there just so others can find it easier.
And, the "new site" is www.JohnFromCincinnati.net (http://www.johnfromcincinnati.net) and you can login to this forum from both the new site and johnfromcincinnati.net... same forum, two sites. I spent a good deal of time adding photos to the gallery on the front page of the new site.
OH>>> has anyone been over the www.JFCexperience.com (http://www.jfcexperience.com) site yet?
Stopped in for a quite light-on-the-alcohol Bloody Mary. Back to work tomorrow. It's funny how clearly I remember this day three years ago, when we were on the BB and there was a buzz of electric excitement coming through the ether. Tempus fugit, as they say.
And I remember it with a mixture of feelings as the cancellation was a "rumor" at the time and I was hoping that when the last episode aired there would still be good news about a second season.
On the other hand, that last scene with "Bill" in his wife's upstairs room was and still is magical and wonderful and that I will always remember fondly.
And of course... it brought us together.
Anyone up for a game of pool?
Tammy, you've made it! With you here the bar now feels like a really lived in place! Get better and think about a new campaign, BOSS was a great "F you, HBO" enterprise, unforgettable, because of you.
Skor, I was looking for you today all along the Sachuest Beach! :-* The sand was unbearably hot, frying pan, and I suddenly remembered how Butchie screamed, "Fuck, fuck, fuck", running barefoot on the hot asphalt from his van to the door of Snug Harbor.
So what if some are gone and others - too far away? Doesn't change the past and doesn't kill the future.
I thought that was you, Svennie. I almost asked you to go for a Del's lemonade, but I lost my nerve. I still can't believe that you come and stay so close to me and won't share oysters. I love you anyhow.
Sachuest Point is one of RI's most special places. So very beautiful and wild feeling. Taki's sister's U.S. memorial service was held there, with half of her ashes tossed into the sea, got a special dispensation from the Greek Orthodox Church because the place meant that much to her. I will go walk the trails after Labor Day. Have you visited jerusalem? If not, you really must next time you come down here. It is where I go clamming. Taki's family's built the first house there on the waternthere, a summer cottage so that his father could base his lobster fishing there for the summer. Back then it was quite an ordeal to travel from Newport, before the bridges. It is so sad that his mother sold the house without telling anyone, it would be so wonderful to have that place now. Oh well. We still go there and clam, I think clamming in Jerusalem is the best way possible to spend a day, I hope I get there this season.
I am back to work. It is good, my classes are full with shiny new faces.
I have alot going on,esp. with Taki and my parents. I was getting frustrated with the internet. In part because I feel you all here are my real friends and yet when it comes down to the nitty gritty of real life, what we sometimes need is a warm body that can give a hug or go sit under a tree and drink wine. I've come to terms. As with everything, it is a question of balance. Not to forsake one for the other. I am back. Glad to see everyone here.

Who couldn't use that! I have two little warm bodies that are pretty good at hugs, but wouldn't last 3 seconds under that tree. As for them drinking wine - well, believe me, I am tempted sometimes!
Anyway, glad you are back, Skor. Gin and tonic coming right up!
(Might have some bad weather coming your way. Hope it moves back out to sea.)
Yes, we certainly do not need a major storm. We have had them in the past, hurricanes are not pleasant. Years ago, Taki's family lost their house, and his father lost his fishing boat. After that his father sailed straight out to sea whenever a hurricane was coming.
But if we get a cooling breeze that will be good. It is insufferably hot here, very close with no air. I have 2 fans on me, but still have to jump in the shower every once in awhile.
I could really use that gin and tonic about now, Wax. Thanks. I need to wind down a bit, I am always nervous the first week back to work. No reason for it, just happens. I really do like what I do.
Oh, Skor, if that woman had a red, like a cooked lobster, face, then it must've been me. (Did I look pleasant to your loving eyes? :D 8)) I am still roasting and roaming in your home state, my classes start after Labor Day. As to the Internet, it could be either menace or a blessing, sometimes both, but life without it would be bland like mashed potatoes. I cannot imagine this place without you. Any of you.... and even those souls long gone that are just shadows on the walls still speak and smile to us on occasion.
I wish we could continue with the story. We should just rename it "John from Cleveland", as it was done in some spoof on YouTube, than all bets are off, total freedom, we'd include latest trendy nonsense - vampires and such, eh? Just kidding......(Though I'd love to have Aaron Paul for a part in JFC!)
Waxon, what is your summer drink of choice? Mine is Limoncello martini on the rocks. Last call for summer concession, place your orders!
Wow, Skor, we are here at the same time! It's HOT, you're right.
Nah, you would do just fine, don't you worry your pretty little head!

My preference is not based on time of year but where I am drinking it ;)
That being said - I just have draft. (Later when I get home I might just have a little Irish Whiskey)
BTW, Can you imagine what a stranger might think if you approached them on the beach and said "Score?"? 8)
Wearing a bikini I'd probably risk it, :D :D :D :D :D
I've been so busy I haven't even checked the news in days until you mentioned weather here... category 4 hurricane? :'( Well... I guess that's one way to get the junk out of the yard and lawn watered ;D
:D Now thats keeping a positive light on things!
Both of you!
Limoncello martini, Sven? Is that just limoncello with vodka? Sounds quite strong, but delicious. Like a lemon drop. I made limoncello one year using this recipe:http://www.guntheranderson.com/liqueurs/limoncel.htm
It takes 80 days. I did not use 100 proof vodka, enough is enough. A little buzz is pleasant, but a sledgehammer drunk is notHas anyone here tried Luxardo maraschino? http://www.klwines.com/detail.asp?sku=1045577 (http://www.klwines.com/detail.asp?sku=1045577) I got some to mave aviation cocktails, but then I discovered the ultimate maraschino cherries
http://www.zingermans.com/Product.aspx?ProductID=P-INO&crf=BASE (http://www.zingermans.com/Product.aspx?ProductID=P-INO&crf=BASE)
can be made by soaking fresh cherries in the liqueur. They have to macerate for awhile, I've got a batch soaking for holiday gifts. All this alcohol talk, if it weren't 6:30 am, I would fix a Bloody Mary!
It's going to be a scorcher. I do not work today, what are you up to, nearby Sven? Want to go bowling or to a late afternoon matinee at the Jane Pickens? "Get Low" or "Girl Who Played With Fire"? Have you been through Colt State Park yet? Great place to fly a kite! Or meet me!
It really might be fun to break away and write some craziness.
Has the storm hit by you yet, Waxon? It is early here, but all ready hot. Better than cold, but not easy to get moving in this weather.
Just had to share this over here:
Brokeback Mount Doom (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CXVqdEQ2cY4&feature=player_embedded#)
Rip tide, beach closings for tomorrow. The summer's gone.
80 days for Limoncello, Skor, you are not kidding? A recipe that requires that long to mature or ripen or what the heck it's called, better be terrific. Thank you for the links, that is kind of you!
How's the "Brokeback" allusion derived from "The Lord of the Rings" I can't figure out, though I shouldn't say anything, because I never could force myself to watch more than 5 min of "The Lord of whatever", it's a pompous pseudo-epic to me. As to "Brokeback", I think Heath Ledger work is of the highest caliber. It is interesting that the story is written by a woman, and another woman co-authored the screenplay.
Hope to watch the swell tomorrow from Brenton Point or from somewhere high up on a cliff, in Jamestown maybe. To end the summer on a high note, so to speak.
Thanks for sharing the "Brokeback" video! I'd heard about it but never saw it before. Very well done.
Hey... Guess what?
We have gone over the 200,000 page view mark!

Hi ZFan!
Sorry,.... I was receding. 8)
That was some looong dead silence here, right Zippy, must be times a'changing, you know, back to school, paying bills, fading to fall.
Waxon, is that Pink Floyd, eh? No, no, no, no quitters, no receding, a leave of absence is OK. Everyone, please, don't forget to check in, don't get us all worried.
So we have some other night birds here huh? Great! I didn't wake up until 7:30pm... serves me right for not getting to bed until 11:00am huh. That's what happens after years of working at home for yourself!
Hi, how's every one doin these days?
Miss you all, guess I'll go looking for you elsewhere, hope to see you guys here soon :)
Hi Cissy,
We pop in at irregular times so do keep trying. :)

No, no it was just a joke. This is me checking in.
(and stopping by for a night cap)
Great, Waxon, have three cups! OK, what if we add something to "checking in", like maybe, a weather report, or let's say, a name of a favorite sport team, or - any irrelevant stuff that comes to one's head without an effort, huh? Wanna try that?
Oh, that's so hard, :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D!

I want to watch "John From Cincinnati"....anyone else?????? It's been too long!
Tricia? Is it possible?
So sorry to be away for so long! I've got several sites launching and three in development so I'm really busy!
We can do another retrospective using the Chat Room. What is needed is we need to determine how it will run. Like: two episodes every Sunday night. Or one every night of the week. Or some other configuration.
Anyone have any preference?
Hi Admin, how have you been? We've looked for you... you aren't there... maybe we're looking at the wrong time?
It's good to see some folks checking in here, I haven't been around, as in, not finding me in my room or the mirror, but I'm starting to see shapes and a few colors now, so I came looking for my old friends, everywhere! I am glad I found my way back to this spot where I see some of you stopping by looking for each other too.
I certainly do miss you all. Someone please, tell me where the conversation is happening? I get a bit of a message on the frige feeling here, no yakking back and forth like we used to do. Miss you all.
OH! I found a very old friend I'd lost all contact with through the internet, and would you believe? She sure wishes she knew we were here when JFC was showing, she said she had to tell the people she was around that JFC was worth their time and effort, and is very sorry she missed us and the experience we had. Nice to still be finding people out there who saw what we saw. When I say old friend, I mean we've known each other since we were 6. Her, and her and me were the only people around to play with, there weren't any other houses around. She sent me an old photo of us at one of her birthdays, probably 7, if I can get it scanned and into my computer somehow, I'll share with you all. I see you have an icon for insert picture, so I'll give that a try.
Sven, I was inspired by the heat to write a very short poem the other night, I will find that, it was a spontaneous thing that just came out at the end of an email to my old neighbor, it's stayed with me as I didn't really like one or two of the words placements, so when I bring it here for you, that will be worked out, who knows? In the working out, perhaps it will become a become a longer poem.
Miss you all. The box won't let me write anymore o-<
is this the cissy i think it is?? ???
hey ocean flower with the big wave avatar! what? like you know another cissy? lol 8)
why yes I do... ;) altho that cissy usually goes by the full name of "cissy yost" yeah!
Hi there Ocean, it's funny to call you that, one of my closest friends daughter's name is Ocean, Osh (not like overalls), that's what I've always called her. Her last name, seriously, was Seigel.
Her folks were from Indiana, come to california to drop acid they said. That was a long time ago, she's married twice now, and she isn't ocean sea gull anymore. :) You're Osh now.
At the top of my box here it says warning - in red letters, some one has posted something.
I wonder what the correct thread would be to share the weird experience we had coming home tonight. As we headed north on our road, we saw in the distance, maybe 2 miles away ?
There was a great green glowing flash, oblong, close to the ground ahead of us, then 3 smaller explosions of the same sort. The light was exactly like the borealis lights, but on the ground, and circular or oblong. Fire trucks rushed past us to close our road, took us over an hour to get in our house!!! I heard it was a car hit the big power transformer place, then a cop said it was a downed power line. While we were driving around wondering how to get home to John and Cass, we were headed west and I saw the same type of explosion coming from the ocean, only it was faint purple faded to white. The original explosions were to the north. So, kinda weird, huh? We looked up power line outages and transformer explosions on You Tube, none were even near the size of the things we saw.
It was strange, still feels strange.
Strange but True thread? lol Good to see everyone!!!
Cissy, that could be an alien ship you saw, the probability is not zero! Can't be that in such vast universe we are all alone, although we are on the outskirts of it and not very advanced, but the planet we got, oh, it's beautiful, isn't it?
Stop worrying about the right or wrong thread, every single one is right. Open a new one if you wish so, OK?
I actually had a dream about John last night, it has been a very long time since that happened. I used to find all of our I.B. friends in Dreamland just about every night but now it has been months and months, I woke up happy.
Hi Svennie~
I really think it could have been something out of the ordinary, like aliens! When everyone plus me goes searching for news of this oddity, that so many people saw, there is no
word. Anywhere, at all. I would never trust my own searching skills online, but when my kid or my mentor, my beloved M, do the searches and they come up with nothing too, I'm really
inclined to believe something strange happened here. Not a statie in site, I thought odd, not on site or monitoring the freeway exit either. So, that was strange. I heard Michio Kaku say the other night that we'd have to convince aliens that we were interesting enough to visit.
Thanks for the any thread is the right thread, I get confused, and now I won't worry.
Hey Skor, it's good to see you here. How you doing with the ice? I hate the ice, but it does work. I truly hope your back is better now. If not now, then right away!
I've had a wonderful time reading here, old posts so far, good discussions, saving up some further adventures for a good rainy day, which in October we ought to have a few of, but no,
the weather lady keeps saying it's going to be warmer the next few days. Pout. I hope folks want to watch John again, I really want to. Patrick has posted the 'sermon' elsehwhere, it was good to hear again. I used to watch it every night, every single night before trying sleep. Thanks again Patrick :)
I was cleaning my closet and found a folded piece of paper on the floor, it looked like one of these "TO DO" lists:
"1. Collect and send to HBO all positive reviews. 2. Rich investors (?) 3. Find contacts on the inside!"
Couldn't remember when was it written, I think must be some time in the fall of 2007, when we were still fighting for JFC and hoping it would get finished. Times long gone...
Every time I'd make a decision not to check this place (what's the point, the story is lost, people are mostly committed to memory, life has so much to offer, time's not standing water, - the endless string of valid reasons!) I see that someone is still reading the posts. By accident? By design? What are those people seeking here? I wish I believed it is the promise of JFC, even that it's just one more imagined seascape in Cincinnati.
Whoever they are, they read. So there must be something for them to read. We are open 24/7.
Hi everybody. Here we are another Halloween. I remember the year we were posting monad costumes, seems so very long ago. I just wanted to connect, with there were others here in the bar cause I don't like to drink alone. so I will down my Roy Rogers and be on my way. I think of you all.
Hello All!
Yes it me! I'm not lost just... feel like a broken record saying this but... very busy.
My sleep cycle is all crazy so I got up around 11pm, started working around midnight, and here it is 9:30am and I'm just starting to think about having dinner. Ugh! I am getting a lot of work done and my creative juices are flowing so I'm feeling really good about the work I'm doing.
My respite is my DVR and my hobby is finding the Imperial Beach gang on other shows. I'm glad to see so many have done so well! Dr. Smith has a sit-com of all things, Tina is a witch at odds with vampires and warewolves, Freddie is a sheriff stuck between his badge and a biker gang, Cass is FBI trying to solve the mystery of Haven, Butchie is collecting alimony from a cougar, Dickstein is a brilliant con man, Ramon is on parole and trying to go straight, Bill is married to a hottie from Columbia, Vietnam Joe hunting deamons and... well what ISN'T he doing!... am I missing anyone?
Well, I've gotta go stoke the fires and I think I'll make a chicken salad for breakfast... I mean dinner... I mean.... ahh shoot.... I'm gonna go eat now ;D
Trishah

1.5 oz Scotch
0.5 oz sweet Vermouth
Directions: Fill a mixing glass with cracked ice. Add Scotch and sweet vermouth. Stir and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a cherry.

Flower, thanks, according to the witching season I barely escaped an assault of a zombie battalion and a train-wreck of vampires. Didn't notice anyone in a cherry costume, could you catch at least one? Must be gone, the way of a dodo bird and a sea cow 8)

Hello Everyone~~
Just read the further adventures! Wonderful things, many loose ends, loving those. A blog is mentioned? Between Flower and Sven, somewhere in the middle, an aside to each other, I was wondering where this blog might be?
Seems like I can't find us when I come here... I always think I must be in the wrong place. Someone tell me where to find you all.
I miss you.
I remember the monad costumes at Halloween.
I still wear my On the wall the line and circle are huge shirt ever week.
Where are you?
I can't even find the little poem I posted for you Svennie o-<
8)Hello cissy, you are in the right place, hahahahahahhahaah, hope you come back soon!
Are you feeling better, Laurel?
Hi skor, I do feel much better, but still have a headcold...
Soo I'll take a very large glass of whiskey and a shot of beer.... and to the bar tender I'll buy everyone a drink.....muhahaha!
I was greatly saddened to learn that Tammy passed away this morning. She is now in Cincinnati. Her passing is a true loss to all of us.
O Tammy.... :'(
The world is lessened by your leaving it.
I am less, for losing you. You've made it to Cincinnati, when it's my
turn, I'll be looking for you there~
I love you.
I just have learned of Tammy's passing via Facebook. I am sure John, Zippy and Tammy are on the water riding to Cincinnatti. My prayers to Tammy, her family and friends.
She should've been the last to go I thought, our Chatangel, always in motion, involved in every single thing, remember how she came up with the BOSS, how she'd learn everything she could about the treatments, always with the good word, a good thought. Must be they needed her for something urgent up there - or why would she leave her friends, her Mom, her grandchildren?
If there is a river, she walked over, if it's the big water - she is on her way.
Some day - our turn.
Love.
Yes, Sven, always in motion! She had such passion and energy, drive and ideas. She was nexus in the line and the circle, and I will miss her vibrancy and honesty. We will not forget what she did here...on this earth, in this life, in our hearts.

Hi Everyone
I just wanted to be with you all, read your words together.
I wanted you all to know, without Tammy, I never would have become
part of this special family. I was extremely computer limited when JFC started,
I was reading everything, every day, but I could never manage to post myself, that is,
until Tammy called me one night to help me find my way around, my way to all of you.
She called the next night and the next. She was just there for me, she
didn't know me from Adam, yet she heard me trying to reach out to all of you, and
she helped me do it. Thanks Tammy, for bringing me to this home, for being my friend.
I'll see you after~
Anyone remember Tammy's signature. Cissyand I were trying to remember. It went something like ' Living in the present with no worries..???" can't remember the rest? If anyone can remember please let us know!

Deeply saddened by Tammy's passing,

I cannot recall having chatted with chatangel but I see that she and actor, W. Earl Brown, shared the same hometown.
I don't remember the quote or sig-line. What I do know is that it seems right to me. (See what's in front of you, not what you want to see is how you get 13 safe-deposit boxes.") They say atoms are 99.9 percent empty space. I know I seem to spend a similar percentage of my time thinking either about the future or the past, neither of which exist the last time I checked. Sometimes I think that if we ever get to the state of being fully aware in the present moment we might wake up in Cincinnati.
"Living in the present with no worries about the future"
That's as close as I can get. It must be archived somewhere, right admins?
But you're right Eccles, that was the essence of her sig line.
I truly hope that she was in that space when she went to sleep that
night. No, I take that back. I'm choosing to believe that is the space she was in.
Very helpful to see you guys posting at the bar, painful, but it helps, no one is gone
if they are remembered, and clearly, many will remember this sister.
I've spent an hour trying to find Tammy's signature in old emails and on the web and I can't find anything other than what we already have. I can't find her on FaceBook, maybe some one who is her friend there can see if it's on that profile?
Trishah, there's nothing about Tammy's signature on hew FB page, but it looks complete to me now. We, together, figured it as best as it gets.

As Ludwig Wittgenstein said, "Death is not an event in life: we do not live to experience death. If we take eternity to mean not infinite temporal duration but timelessness, then eternal life belongs to those who live in the present."
And there is the problem: abstract theories are somewhat distant from the tragedies and joys of the everyday life. Can we live by them?

I find living as much as I can in the present the only truly real and non-abstract way I can be happy. Poltical theories, on the other hand, I find abstract. And fuckin' taxes. Them too.
If the present could exclude political abstracts (is Ms.Bachmann just a nightmarish theory though?) and flat tax becomes part of third grade curriculum, living in the moment would be pure bliss!
On second thought, what if at present one is having a toothache? 8)
Just playing along, Eccles!

I'm always delighted to play.
As for a toothache, sometimes I think the whole point of the book of 'JOB' is that nothing makes us happy.
Change of topic:
Here's something I'll share with you before I have to get back to some editing I have to get done this morning. While I was walking from my car to my office a few hours ago a gust of cold wind blew up the back of my suit jacket, and I shivered and thought what a cold morning it was. Then I suddenly recalled that I was merely dwelling on my own perspective relative to my comfort and that in fact the wind and the weather and nature itself was operating exactly according to its own laws and principles and it was really very beautiful, and just for a few seconds as I walked along I was filled with joy. Then the wind blew in my face and I shivered again, and picking up the pace, I walked inside the warm building. A little later on a colleague observed how it was going to be a beautiful day. I said I thought it already was. Have a good one.
What a Holiday treat to come here and find Eccles among us again! hello!!!
WINTER SOLSTICE, DECEMBER 21.
In the depths of winter I finally learned that within me there lay an invincible summer.
--Albert Camus
The crocuses and the larch turning green every year a week before the others and the pastures red with uneaten sheep's placentas and the long summer days and the newmown hay and the wood pigeon in the morning and the cuckoo in the afternoon and the corncrake in the evening and the wasps in the jam and the smell of grose and the look of the gorse and the apples falling and the children walking in the dead leaves and the larch turning brown a week before the others and the chestnuts falling and the howling winds and the sea breaking over the pier and the first fires and the hooves on the road and the consumptive postman whistling "The Roses are Blooming in Picardy" and the standard oil-lamp and of course the snow and to be sure the sleet and bless your heart the slush and every fourth year the February debacle and the endless April showers and the crocuses and then the whole bloody business starting all over again.

As it happened from the beginning, we here on the BB could stay away from politics - more or less. Then politics breaks in suddenly, leaving its trail, in blood and pain.
I just received an e-mail from a good friend and decided to post it here. The death of a little girl at the hands of a young gunman adds to the cruelty of Tuscon shooting something justifying that. Maybe it is the terrible symbolism of her birth on 9.11.
Hatred is very contagious. Mind-born and more dangerous than Black Death.
"Our hearts are heavy for the victims of the tragedy in Arizona. We must put a stop to the escalating hate rhetoric of the right and its very specific calls to armed violent action. Lines of decency have been crossed.
Sarah Palin has a special responsibility and opportunity in the wake of the attempted assassination of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords. For it was Sarah Palin and Sarah Palin alone who earlier put the crosshairs of a gun on Rep. Giffords. And so far, Palin's response has been Facebook prayers for the victims and an official denial that her widely distributed map involved gun sights at all. This is obscene duplicity at best.
I'm joining CREDO Action in calling on Sarah Palin to renounce the use of shooting images in political rhetoric immediately, and stop using her platform to promote and validate violent calls to action on the right.
Click on the link below for more information."

I think JOHN would agree. And I think we should take a community stand on this. I personally think we should put that bold statement from the last post on a scroller at the top of the front page of this site. Anyone have any opposition to this?
I was encouraged by these words spoken last night by the President:
Rather than pointing fingers or assigning blame, let us use this occasion to expand our moral imaginations, to listen to each other more carefully, to sharpen our instincts for empathy, and remind ourselves of all the ways our hopes and dreams are bound together.
... After all, that's what most of us do when we lose someone in our family - especially if the loss is unexpected. We're shaken from our routines, and forced to look inward. We reflect on the past. Did we spend enough time with an aging parent, we wonder. Did we express our gratitude for all the sacrifices they made for us? Did we tell a spouse just how desperately we loved them, not just once in awhile but every single day?
So sudden loss causes us to look backward - but it also forces us to look forward, to reflect on the present and the future, on the manner in which we live our lives and nurture our relationships with those who are still with us. We may ask ourselves if we've shown enough kindness and generosity and compassion to the people in our lives. Perhaps we question whether we are doing right by our children, or our community, and whether our priorities are in order. We recognize our own mortality, and are reminded that in the fleeting time we have on this earth, what matters is not wealth, or status, or power, or fame - but rather, how well we have loved, and what small part we have played in bettering the lives of others.
That process of reflection, of making sure we align our values with our actions - that, I believe, is what a tragedy like this requires. For those who were harmed, those who were killed - they are part of our family, an American family 300 million strong. We may not have known them personally, but we surely see ourselves in them.
He added, "... our task, working together, is to constantly widen the circle of our concern so that we bequeath the American dream to future generations."
In a way, I think seeing ourselves in others and widening "the circle of our concern" is what I've found inspiring in 'JFC' and David Milch's writing generally. It's why Freddy came all the way from Hawaii, and it's what got Barry out of his inner prison all the way to the parade. It brought Mitch back to take the weight required to keep him grounded and moved Butchie from self-imposed exile in his "room in the palace" to a state of alert watchfulness out on the water.
In response...

[/quote]It is a living human person who stands behind the masks and appearances and organizes all of the aspects into an organized whole. We all have these masks: one person walks into the building as a doctor or a businessperson; another as a patient or client. But every one of us goes home at night and assumes other masks - those of father, mother, lover, friend, daughter, etc. Beneath the masks, we are all human beings, who need and deserve the same things. It's easy to be deceived by the masks, and to believe that they mean more than they do. Yet, from a spiritual perspective, the person is what counts, and it's from some kind of deep development in the heart and mind of the person, that healing events seem to come from.
Hey bar-tender, give me a BEER, and charge it to Sven2's acct 8) How come this place says it has guest, but no one is saying much???
Loosen up FOLKS!
I am greatly enjoying Showtime's 'Shameless.' In some respects it reminds me of 'JFC' insofar as it explores the themes of family and community; obligations realized as blessings, grit and grace, and belonging. I don't think I've enjoyed a show so much and been as touched by one in years.
(Shameless).
Thanks for the suggestion Eccles and very nice to meet you. I am cassie. (work here Cass)I must say I love reading your post.

After all these years
It's nice to meet you, Cassie.
I've been thinking about the phrase: "work here, Cass." I think it expresses much the same thing as "living in the present moment," which is something we were discussing earlier on this thread. In a scene with 'John,' Cass defines herself: "I'll always be that girl from Hibbing, Minnesota." She looks to the future with fear and trepidation. She does not get what John means when he tells her to "work here" because the one place she isn't is "here," or in the present moment - she's either back fretting about what happened in Hibbing in the past or else she's fretting about what hasn't yet happened in the future. On her own in the hotel room looking at the stuff she recorded she grows increasingly frustrated because she is concentrating - she is concentrating on finding the hidden meaning of the events rather than simply observing them. It's like she is trying to
find awareness instead of waking up to it. But she learns a better way.
I'm rambling.
Please, please ramble on Ecccles.. I love waking up and reading your post.
I just finished a marathon watch of two seasons of "Lie to Me". Truth be told, I just loved watching Tim Roth with all his appealing quirkiness. Not a bad show, actually. Makes it a bit difficult to look at people's faces in quite the same way. Garret Dillahunt as a guest star in one episode, more Jack McCall than Dr. Smith.Too bad, I like his gentle, generous side. Erlemyer, though played a role truer to character. I haven't been watching much real-time TV, so I have missed most of the new roles that the I.B. gang have taken on. Still, I always feel a sweet remembrance when I do see them.
Ok I need a drink and is there a tarot card reader in the house 8)
Hi Cassie! Welcome. Were you with us on the HBO board, perhaps with a different name? I'm wondering if I know you or if you are new here. Just saw your post on another thread about Jimmy 2 Nutz, so you do go way back.
hi skorda.... the only thing I've dropped is ten pounds.
Have you, really? Wow, that calls for a new name, bright and light new personae, Cassie! Not that you have to look like those undernourished teens anyways.
There is nothing against anorexia more convincing than photos of Isabelle Caro.
just trying to get healthy Sven, feels great, especially when others come up to you and recognize you have shed a few pounds ;)
As I was cleaning my old e-mails, I accidentally clicked on the link to HBO site. So I looked on their series and - surprise - there is Deadwood thread. It's been started some time in November 2010, and now has 4 topics and no more than 35 replies total.
They really missed the train on that one. Probably tried to revive the discussions - remember how lively were Deadwood and JFC BBs once? Now that they want to sell more blue-ray "Deadwood", reopening a site for the show looks like a cheap and crude sales trick.
Funny, I also visited there recently and saw that. I had not been there in ages and ages. I still can't figure out that site and even if I manage to get where I want to go, I can't read the text. It was prtty much my home for awhile, but that was then. Though I must admit that I am looking forward to "Luck."

Happy Birthday, Trishah! Enjoy your day! (and all the snow!)
How do I post a youtube again? I forgot! Sorry
Wishing you happiness and joy on your Birthday today and every day Trishah, love you
Trishah, Happy Birthday and best wishes, hope we'll celebrate many more birthdays here together. Love.
Trishuh, Happy belated birthday, @ Sven, yes it's complicated, but it works for me :D
(SHOUT OUT) to Patrick and Cissy stop by and bless us with your presence.
To all who reads this has a wonderful day.. cya=soon. :)
Good morning. Today is Superbowl Sunday YEAH! GOOOO STEELERS
Hope everyone has a great day. I'm heading out of town for a day of shopping and hanging out w/ my mother....
great weather in my part of the country!
Here it is still freezing, windy and cold. People are getting a bit stir crazy. The ice is the worst. I hope you have a good day with your mom, Cassie.
wow we must be getting old now we're talking about the weather but what the hell! much like early spring here sun warm but air still a tad chilly but feels good to get the hell out of doors; walked six miles; doc says i gotta take a low carb diet & lo & behold the four boxes of girl scout cookies i ordered arrived! sigh!
Nah, Ocean, talking about the weather is middle aged. Old is when you talk about your digestive system and things like that. Your doctor said low carb? That surprises me, complex carbs are good for you. Girl Scout cookies not so much. When I worked for my sister her manufacturing space was in the bakery that made girlscout cookies. her boss had developed the mint for thin mints. We ate so many cookies I can't even look at them. By the way, they have cut many corners in their formulas, the cookies now are not what they once were. Yes, they are a tradition, but they really are quite vile. If you really want to feel better at lose some weight, look at the new Weight Watchers program. I have on it for a few weeks and while I have only lost a couple of pounds, I feel much better. It is a way of eating, not a diet like cutting out carbs. The trouble with counting carbs is one big meal of pasta or a garlic pizza and not only does the weight come back, but it is torture to start all over again.
Morning Skorda and flower... i agree w/ skorda. I am winning at the losing weight game. EXERCISE,,, I know the weather is hindering that part of losing for some. I've found exercising and just cutting down is the best way. Yes, you feel much better, I have tried for 2 years and it's finally starting to tone up....
I started stocking my freezer w/ Brussels sprout and broccoli , they have been approved by weight watchers... Oh and don't forget WATER, at least 3 bottles a day... I did not know that about Girl Scout cookies... I stayed away from them, thankfully
Good for you, Cassie! Exercise is one of those important pieces, I think one of the reasons I gained weight so quickly was my arthritis suddenly made it difficult to get out there and walk. The arthritis is slightly better, but I still cannot walk very well. I do get to the gym these days. but I'm going to have to do more, I have only lost a couple of pounds and I need to lose more. I make a big pot of vegetables every other morning- carrots, celery, onions, cabbage, kale, spinach and brussels sprouts. Then I pour vegetable broth and some spices over them and cook. I eat some before every meal and throughout the day when I m hungry. I still eat regular meals, but what I think has slowed my weight loss is eating out so often, at least 3 or 4 times a week. No fast food, but still it can be difficult to keep it light and healthy when ordering anything except raw oysters!
thanks ladies! yes being trapped in a flourescent lit cube for 8-9-10 hrs a day dont help
Flower yes the cube doesn't help but I would like you to know-------you have always inspired me to exercise.
skorda fortunately I hung on to my treadmill, so i don't have to rely on mother-nature, and a doctor told me that making it a lifestyle change was the key to staying in shape. So to everybody out there, good luck w/ getting healthy.
Another beautiful day, highs around 50 degrees.. I will take these dayz of sun, for it's sure to change.

Yes..
I awoke this morning @ 5:36 am--Just poof I was wide eyed ???out of a dream I can barely recall... so far a slow day..
:o I feel so bored today. I even went to the gym. It tired me out just enough that I don't feel like moving.I think cabin fever is setting in. Up til now it wasn't too bad to wrap up in a down quilt and read or play computer games or watch a movie. Now all of that is getting old, but the air outside is still frigid. And the wind is blowing. I am looking forward to spring, but I know how quickly the spring and summer will pass and then we'll be back here again in the dark cold blah. We are going to take my father out to dinner, so that is something, but it is always the same.eat, eat and more eat. OK I feel better now, thanks.
Happy Valentines Day...... Flower, skorda Sven, and all who are here ............ :-*
Was reading your guys weight loss discussion with great interest, wishing you luck! However a state of deprivation doesn't last and smell of cooked cabbage some consider disgusting, Atkins diet is bad for one's liver and self help diet books are often a shameless scam.....
My recipe is the usual and the same - "Love changes everything". Not necessarily love of a man/woman, - love yourself. And your child and maybe that willow in your window.
So here it is to us - Have a happy Valentine's Day, my friends.
Love IS
Some people forget that love is
tucking you in and kissing you
"Good night"
no matter how young or old you are
Some people don't remember that
love is
listening and laughing and asking
questions
no matter what your age
Few recognize that love is
commitment, responsibility
no fun at all
unless
Love is
You and me

I am lonely...... :'( I have no friends..... :o I am No# three :-[
This place is visited by very quiet souls lately. I'd swear just yesterday there were interesting as usual, observations about JFC, made by one of our dear old friends, but - alas...... in the absence of an immediate reply some posts seem to wilt, and some mysteriously disappear without a trace, however not without being read and appreciated. Thank you. Pleasure to read.
nice bar hehehe...fun place to chill
My boys are cut off from the world in the newly formed island of Big Sur. It's been more than a week since Hwy 1 to the north by Palo Colorado crumbled into the sea. At that time one could still head south, though it's close to 2 hours before there is a town of any size. Still, it was possible. And if one needed to head north there was an old mountain road, not in the best shape, the trip to Carmel which usually takes a bit under an hour would take nearly five hours, but it could be done. But then there was a mudslide south of Big Sur and suddenly there was no way out. Impossible to access the mountain road. CalTrans got on it and thought they would have the road cleared in a day or so. As they were working boulders started rolling down the mountain. One crushed the equipment. No one was hurt, but they decided that the region was too unstable and called a halt to the work. It is hoped they can begin again soon. As of now there is no way in or out of Big Sur. There is no harbor and the coastline is treacherous, so bringing in supplies by boat would be very, very challenging. The state has decided to begin helicopter shuttles on Monday. For many residents, this is a great adventure. As long as people are well and there are no emergencies, it will be a grand old memorable event. I'm hoing the businesses do not suffer too much, it is the kind of place where everyone pitches in and helps one another. I'm hoping that the rich people are keeping the economy afloat by spending and eating and drinking at the restaurants.
A friend sent it to me today, I thought it's good to share it here with you
10 things to learn from Japan after their catastrophe:
1. THE CALM
Not a single visual of chest-beating or wild grief. Sorrow itself has been elevated.
2. THE DIGNITY
Disciplined queues for water and groceries. Not a rough word or a crude gesture.
3. THE ABILITY
The incredible architects, for instance. Buildings swayed but didn't fall.
4. THE GRACE
People bought only what they needed for the present, so everybody could get something.
5. THE ORDER
No looting in shops. No honking and no overtaking on the roads. Just understanding.
6. THE SACRIFICE
Fifty workers stayed back to pump sea water in the N-reactors. How will they ever be repaid?
7. THE TENDERNESS
Restaurants cut prices. An unguarded ATM is left alone. The strong cared for the weak.
8. THE TRAINING
The old and the children, everyone knew exactly what to do. And they did just that.
9. THE MEDIA
They showed magnificent restraint in the bulletins. No silly reporters. Only calm reportage.
10. THE CONSCIENCE
When the power went off in a store, people put things back on the shelves and left quietly
Saw a photo of a newborn boy in his mother's arms being tested for radioactivity, he looked like a little hungry bird, with the tiny mouth open in wonder. What world will this generation inherit?
Thank-you all for such considered and passionate posts. Hi. My name is Len, and why it took me this long to join, I'll never know. A few days ago, I went (unexplainably) to:
http://jfcexperience.com/ (http://jfcexperience.com/)
for some"battery recharging". That lead me here. :) I will try to weigh in on many of your ideas, especially since ChatAngel's passing, without overstaying my welcome.
As David Milch said in his "Final Speech" to the JFC cast and crew:
"PLEASE KNOW THAT I'VE NEVER BEEN PROUDER OR MORE GRATEFUL FOR THE COLLECTIVE EFFORTS OF SO MANY PEOPLE, NOR HAVE I EVER SEEN A MORE HEART-WARMING RESULT. SO WE'RE KICKING ASS AND ... EVERYTHINGS GOING TO GO FINE!" ;)
-Len (ZenOnMars)
Ah, the siren call! Welcome, Len!
Once in a while - a live soul finds their way here! Not to worry, your welcome is endless and timeless, you may talk about anything and anyone here as much as you wish.
Don't want to spook you with too many questions, though.... were you ever on the original HBO BB, years ago, when JFC was airing? Did you know Chatangel? Tell us something about yourself and John from.... Denver! (Not!) ;D
Thank-you. :) Well, I live in Wisconsin. I will be 55 years old in May. I am currently reading "Be Love Now" by Ram Dass, and psyching up to recall our Republican governor, lol.
Yes I chatted a bit with our angel on the HBO boards but more so on my Myspace. She was a treasure, as you have all stated, who treated even strangers with John's love. My major contribution to those boards, and my "claim to fame" was being quoted in HBO's JFC newsletter as to who I thought John was. Imagine my surprise when I opened my email to read this:
"Milch sees how "big and HUGE" this is...the Miracle of Love, and how we are brought to the point of union with the Universe, where we care for, and protect, and heal, and love, and feed each other, simply because we are ONE." – ZenOnMars, John From Cincinnati community member."
That rings a bell! Len, don't get discouraged by the silence on the BB, everyone reads the posts, not many write. Pick yourself favorite topic, and discuss, object, inspire, condemn, etc. My favorite is poetry almanac. What are your interests?
I haven't been around much, in part because I am now teaching a course on "Conflict Resolution in Africa" which is way out of my area, but as the dept. felt I could handle it I have been cramming to do my best. But I say that this week brought me the worst class ever, I mean in all of the years I have been teaching I have never experienced anything like this. The students are presenting the topics that are covered in their final papers. During the first week one student was to present the current state of events in Libya and another te current state of Ivory Coast, then in the last class a student would update us on what has occurred since the first report. The Ivory Coast presentation went well. The second student began her presentation talking about the controversy of entering into the conflict in Libya, whether Obama had made the right decision, etc. But then she started talking about rubber and civil war and I was like...whoa, what are you talking about? And she said, "the civil war in Liberia, of course, let me show you this video." I was blown away and even more so when the video she had chosen was 21 years old. But it had been posted on Youtube last month so she thought it was new. I used the incident as an opportunity to talk about research methods, lol. I know that you reading this aren't interested in such silly things but it was such a learning opportunity for me, and this is what has been taking all of my waking moments lately, so I just had to share it.
Now, add insult to injury, i.e. the ignorance to the astronomical cost of "higher" education!
In thinking about Ocean's aversion to the uppercase. Language may be flexible, but things like capitalization and punctuation are not entirely arbitrary. Here's an example of how lack of capitalization might affect someone's meaning..."Capitalization is the difference between helping your Uncle Jack off his horse and helping your uncle jack off his horse."...Oh!!!
Hi All,
I've been keeping tabs on the goings-on here but I've been so busy with my work... these old fingers just don't code as fast as they used to :)
I did want to stop in today to tell you of a good site I found and to ask for your help...
The site is MyWOT.com. It stands for My Web Of Trust and is a free peer review of websites. It has a plugin for your browser so you can get the peer rating of a site before you go there. Interesting idea, huh?
Well, here is the scorecard for us here: http://www.mywot.com/en/scorecard/johnfromcincinnati.net (http://www.mywot.com/en/scorecard/johnfromcincinnati.net) There isn't any comments and only my rating so far. So give your positive rating and then when members search for JOHN they will see our love for it :D
Now, I also have a personal request... It seems there are people trying to trash my reputation by giving my personal web design site a bad rating. I honestly don't have any idea why people would be so cruel. If you would, I would appreciate you also taking a moment to add your opinion to my scorecard: http://www.mywot.com/en/scorecard/trishah.com (http://www.mywot.com/en/scorecard/trishah.com)
You know what is said about overweight (fat, politically incorrect!) people: You really let yourself go, man!
Just leave the place all alone, in the dark, not even a zombie moans. However, despite all the visible signs of irreversible coma of the forum, it's ALIVE.
Memorial showing of JFC is scheduled - in the privacy of your own home, now, see how John smiles and tilts his head in utter delight at someone? Is that you?
Us?
:) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)
Cindy had plans to come down here and see me, but it's a long drive and just not working out. That's OK, I understand, still, it is too bad, would have been fun. Truth for me is that once I am in Big Sur, I just do not leave. Each year this place grows on me more and more.
Hope everyone survived Irene, no flood or wind damage.
Hello Sven... I see you're here... Hope your well...and the puppy...lol is it still alive???jk
It's been a rainy day, Lily, I was NETsurfing. The doggy is more like a crazed teenager, the sweetest puppy when inside and a wild animal outside. We'll have to get a professional trainer, or his 85 pounds would be dragging me along on one of his chases.... :o
So it's a large dog! I love a rainy day...51 degrees and very chilly... Hope all is well
I want to see pictures of your 85 pound puppy, Sven!
First explain the differance between you, me and the monkey in the tree?????? Who said that???
Someone with a megalomaniacal tendencies, I think.
C'mon, Freddy is not Gaddafi, although given unrestricted power and without John in the vicinity - who knows what could've happened to him.
Skor, - as soon as I find the wire to plug the camera in the computer to upload the pictures. How am I doing with the articles A and The? Those are some of my linguistic hurdles. :-[ :D :D :D
Write to me, Svennie.
Oh, Skor, believe me, - I would've if I could.
Heard of the freak Halloween Snowstorm 2011? We got the cruel slap of its white paw. My dogwood, the beauty of the backyard, all full of green leaves, got split at the root in three. It is gone - I turn my eyes away, as the devastation is on every street and in every yard.
Cords of firewood, battery powered radio and the warm body of a dog - what the unappreciated before joys!
Hope everyone is OK.
Ahem, - life is precious.
The Decemberists - Calamity Song (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xJpfK7l404I&ob=av2e#ws)
Sounds like you had a very bad storm Sven. Reminds me of our ice storm in 08. It was like a war zone.
All is very well with me. I have been very busy.(LIFE) With my mother and son, on top of the glorious title of wife.... I have a very small time for socializing on the internet. However, I did find my way here to to the JFc site. I hope all is very well for Sven, flower, Skorda and all else who pass by this place.
see you around cyber-space... Have a great night..
Now! beam me up Scotty...lol
Skorda's OK.
Good to know, Skor!
Mz.Lily, come back as soon as the family and obligations allow, just be around, post a word or two - no pressure. I'm busy myself, as I'm sure is everyone else, why is that fall is hectic and harried, when the trees raise the sky beams higher, the air is crispy and the fields lie flat, stripped bare. It should be the best time for quiet contemplation, instead we're under an avalanche of sale ads and election tragicomedy.
I spoke with CissyYost (screen name), she sends her warm wishes to everyone on the BB, to all five of us! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
Have a great Thanksgiving feast, dear friends. Love and peace to you and yours.
Happiness
There's just no accounting for happiness,
or the way it turns up like a prodigal
who comes back to the dust at your feet
having squandered a fortune far away.
And how can you not forgive?
You make a feast in honor of what
was lost, and take from its place the finest
garment, which you saved for an occasion
you could not imagine, and you weep night and day
to know that you were not abandoned,
that happiness saved its most extreme form
for you alone.
No, happiness is the uncle you never
knew about, who flies a single-engine plane
onto the grassy landing strip, hitchhikes
into town, and inquires at every door
until he finds you asleep midafternoon
as you so often are during the unmerciful
hours of your despair.
It comes to the monk in his cell.
It comes to the woman sweeping the street
with a birch broom, to the child
whose mother has passed out from drink.
It comes to the lover, to the dog chewing
a sock, to the pusher, to the basketmaker,
and to the clerk stacking cans of carrots
in the night.
It even comes to the boulder
in the perpetual shade of pine barrens,
to rain falling on the open sea,
to the wineglass, weary of holding wine.

Trishah, your e-cards are amazing, thank you very much.

I know that it has to be done... It makes sense that it be done... but I'm still sad. :'(
I added the news to our News page.
To all who are in the way of this monster storm (why's that the worst of'em got women's names?) - stay safe. Trishah, you must be under the direct hit - be well, be safe.
Love.
Thank you Sven for your thoughts.
I'm 7 blocks, 1 mile, from the ocean. We still have power but the wind is really kicking up now. I'm on a slight hill so we have never flooded here... but 3 blocks from us does. The eye of the storm will come ashore about 30 miles South of here. The worse will come around midnight to 7am. I have a lot of family around so I'm not worried.
I'm trying to get computer work done while I still have power... If you don't hear from me, don't worry :)
Trishah
How are you, are you OK, Trishah? Please let us know whenever you can.
Hello everyone!
It's me! I survived ;D However we didn't have electric for over 8 days :( I did have hot water, a Verizon copper land-line (has it's own power source ) and a hand-cranked radio. But no electric or heat. I found that keeping 4 candles burning kept my room at a consistent 50 degrees which was fine as long as I kept my hat and scarf on and stayed under the down comforter... the things you learn in an emergency!
My brother and his family live in the cottage in my backyard and they have a gas stove so they brought me hot meals and I made phone calls for them. It worked out very well... all things considering.
I live 7 blocks from the ocean. Most of the storm serge damage happened up to 4 blocks in. And we have no trees in our yard or around us so we had no storm damage... except for a small leak from the chimney into the basement but it didn't damage anything.
All in all we are VERY LUCKY!
Right now it's snowing! I really glad we have heat!!!
This is the boardwalk 7 blocks from my house before Sandy hit:

You survived, that's great, Trishah, you got us worried though! Great pics, the boardwalk gone, but there's a hardy soul walking around in shorts and a T. ;D
After last year's freaky Halloween snowstorm we had a generator installed, have a battery-powered radio, a fireplace (can die of a heart attack or carbon monoxide living days close to it, I think.)
Hurricane force winds leave us powerless, the same with an earthquake, and we had "a temblor" couple weeks ago, carried here from a place in Maine in seconds. A strange experience, my first, felt mostly noise and some vibration, glass in the windows, etc.
What with the climate change, forecast is for 70 on Monday.
Glad you're OK. Do you have this gas rationing in your town?
Hope you stay in touch, life is scary sometimes and certainly unpredictable.
Love, S.
We are a strong bunch here in Jersey!
We do have odd/even days for gas but not because of a fuel shortage but because many of the gas stations are not equipped to work on generations. The gas in at the station but it just can't be pumped. Gov. Christie says that will be changed in the future... And he'll do it too!
We are the most Southern county of the original 12 counties that got the odd/even gas days, but since then all NJ counties are doing it just as a precaution.
Maybe the increase of earth quakes is related to the melting ice caps and permafrost? When all that weight of ice is removed in one section it changes the tectonic weight distribution that needs to be relieved someplace else? Just a thought...
There are still people without power and it's been 12 days! I'm so glad we only had 8 days of it.
I'll still here and kicking... glad you are doing the same.
Monadista Power!
Trishah
One more time, with colder air and fields laid bare, we turn to gathering together, to celebrate.
Happy Thanksgiving to the ones that are close and the ones that are far, to ones present here and ones that will be always remembered.
Love and peace.

Twenty Questions
Did I forget to look at the sky this morning
when I first woke up? Did I miss the willow tree?
The white gravel road that goes up from the cemetery,
but to where? And the abandoned house on the hill,
did it get
even a moment? Did I notice the small clouds so slowly
moving away? And did I think of the right hand
of God? What if it is a slow cloud descending
on earth as rain? As snow? As shade? Don't you think
I should move on to the mop? How it just sits there,
too often
unused? And the stolen rose on its stem?
Why would I write a poem without one?
Wouldn't it be wrong not to mention joy? Sadness,
its sleepy-eyed twin? If I'd caught the boat
to Mykonos that time when I was nineteen
would the moon have risen out of the sea
and shone on my life so clearly
I would have loved it
just as it was? Is the boat
still in the harbor, pointing
in the direction of the open sea? Am I
still nineteen? Going in or going out,
can I let the tide make of me
what it must? Did I already ask that?

I'm sitting here watching the 12/12/12 benefit when it dawned on me..Jersey Shore/Trishah!!! I immediately broke out the laptop and was relieved to see she made out all right. Been away too long from here. Great to see Sven, Cissy, Lily and Save all here...the beat goes on. We did ok, lost power for 2 weeks and had some very close calls with giant trees just missing my humble house. Several of my friends on the south shore saw major flooding of their ground floors and three of my co-workers lost their homes outright. My brother's in-laws built their dream home on Breezy Point and haven't been allowed back to survey their flood damage. All things considered we are all blessed that there were so few deaths...property can always be replaced or rebuilt.
I was just thinking the other day that I need more poetry in my life and now I remember where to find it! Love Sven's and Lily's choices...Got some catching up to do! Peace and love to all as the holidays approach. I'll be lurking around here.
Hey Wave! I'm glad to hear you made it through also! It's hard to fathom all the others who still do not have power... and worse, no home at all. We were SOOOO lucky!
I recorded the concert and will watch it over the weekend when I'm not so busy. Glad to have you back at The Snug :D
Can't believe my eyes - Wave, long time - should we thank this damn Sandy for your post? That's some silver lining, I'm telling you! Hope you and the family are doing well, ready for the celebrations.
Just returned from a trip around tropical islands myself, glad to see the place quite lively.
Holidays are just around the corner, isn't that grand, aint't that delightful!
Salud!
Love,
Sven

How's everyone affected survived "Nemo"? And why, oh why, they're naming snowstorms now, isn't it bad for some Sandy or Katrina to be reminded of the malevolence of their own name every time someone mentions the calamities? Now, thanks to weather people, we got snowstorms to immortalize. Too much!
Anyways, we got 2 feet of lightweight snow, no power loss, the digging out was easy. Nemo brought much more trouble for Skor and probably Trishah and Wavewatcher. Not sure how is our Flower doing. Hope you guys are ok.
Happy Valentine's!

I opened JFC fan club page on Facebook and accidentally stumbled upon this photo:
Could anyone explain how it got on the Facebook (Trishah? Was that you?) and what paper had it printed. It seriously intrigued me, and I'd love to find and read that article.
There are few papers in IB, which one was in the photo?
Please, anyone?
Happy Forth of July, everyone!
Middle of the summer, all fun and games, ah, but summers are too short. (Unless you live in Arizona I guess).
Love and hugs,
Sven
Greetings, all, hope summer 2013 finds us all well.
Well, what we know is that in a bit more than a year "WE are coming 9/11/14" :)
Is it too early to suggest thoughts about this upcoming anniversary date -- on ALL and ANY levels?
If anyone is still visiting here, feel free to speak your mind out loud. 8)
Wow. At the time 9/11/14 seemed so far away and now here it is... nearly a year away. How time flies!
My first thought was to "get the gang back together" and do an online viewing of the show from our DVDs like we did on the year anniversary.
It would be great to know what Milch had in mind when he wrote that as that would give us some idea of a way to commemorate it appropriately.
Anyone have other thoughts?
In an interview, Milch once said he picked 2014 because it was 7 years from the original air date, and that 7 is traditionally a sacred number. Milch often shrugged off details acting as though they were superficial, but as we all here know, NOTHING about JFC was superficial, especially to David Milch. :)
And sometimes I think he was being guided by John's Father in Cincinnati, whether he was aware or not. :) :) :)
Ahhh... That is a great detail to know! Thank you for sharing that. Milch captured our imaginations with the complex subtleties that is JOHN.
work here cass.
Hi, been needing to come here and say a thing.... Lost an old friend.. thing is, I can't stop thinking what would have been if John had come to his door and asked "What do you want Bobby ?"
I didn't feel this belonged with Tammy, so sharing with the empty bar I guess, I know you are all still here, your spirits are anyway. Just cannot stop thinking about that knock at the door...
Love you all, and that ain't words, you know that.
You all remember all the monads that appeared in the bar? Now, I think they were us...
Sorry to hear about your loss, Cissy.
Have we become the ghosts in the bar? Or is the bar a meeting place for those on their way to some place else?
Things that make you go hummmm...
Sorry for your loss, Cissy.
Ain't we on a move every moment - cells of our bodies changing, the hair grows, the lungs expand and deflate? The cities change, the planet forms islands and grinds mountains to sand? The stars collide and the space stretches to no end?
No ghosts here, as long as a single soul remembers "what we did here today".
Hmm, although, what exactly did we do that day, eh? 8) ??? ::)

My aliases seem to propagate :o :D :P, and that makes me somewhat elated - hey, more visitors to the site! 8)
But seriously - it's not intentional. Lost power and later Internet, switched to a diff. provider. So, if you see more Svens around here, they are all just the same old Sven2. Or 3. Or whatever.
Cheers!
LOL You make me laugh Sven! ;D
Ahh, the excitement - as I'm typing this, I have absolutely no idea under what name it will be posted - I returned to my fave computer, now connected again to the world, (with the change of the IP, assuming there is a change or am I ignorant? Don't I have to log in or even sign up?) I'm recognized here as a legitimate poster.... what a thrill! :-*
Ok, can't wait any longer, which one of the Svens is coming to the surface now?...
Damn, back to the boring routine. :-[
Got to shake things up.
It's decided: I'll change my alias to sven666, in modern graphics it should look like something "sven||| ||||| |||||", you know, the barcode lines. Nah, it don't look too good either. >:(
Sorry, I'm just giddy and talk non stop - with the internet, life is back to full blown electronics paradise!
"The rest is silence."
Looks like Sven2 to me :D
Glad you are back up and running on the web!

Attila Kalman in Littlehampton, UK create this solargraph (in this case, a simple pinhole camera made of a beer can ) between June 21 and December 20, 2012. The camera was fixed to a single spot for the entire exposure time, and it continuously recorded the sun's path as a glowing trail burned into the photosensitive paper inside of it. The breaks and gaps between the lines are caused by clouds. It shows the path of the sun over the months between a June and December solstice. As seen from the Northern Hemisphere, the sun's path gets lower each day.
Fabulous find! I love this!! Thanks for sharing.

Hi everyone... Just thought I'd drop by and see who is here.
Hi there, Brig ;D There are a few of us still around over here in the forum. However, most of us seem to hang out more on our Facebook Group.

This long forgotten thread is the most alive.
The motel, that's closed for the winter, like many northern seaside places. Just needs the windows open to let the air in, few new light bulbs, fresh bed sheets and it is ready for the next season.
Oh, who am I kidding. 'The motel is haunted, at least room 24 is haunted'. That's the same Barry's dreamt up theater, never opened its doors, the 'theater of our resentment'.
But, you know, I do not care anymore. That's my place, and I've tried to settle in many others. Never found a replacement for what is still here, what will always be here. As Barry said, 'after a 20 years interlude in Azusa, I'm returned to Imperial Beach'.
I think I won't be kicked out of here.
Barkeep, turn the TV off. Armstrong or Coltrane, or anyone you want. I am not picky.
I'm busy here, wiping the cobwebs and restocking the bar.
Some rooms would be permanently closed, why bother those lost souls that stayed there, but the bar is open. Like Butchie's housing unit, open 24 hours.
And the jukebox works...
Anyways, a Christmas song for you all.
'Let's say Link... '
John and all the motel denizens and witnesses of his visit to IB suddenly got frozen in time. That's not very difficult to imagine, is it?
The JFC, being full of 'ancient wisdom' [Cissy], these prescient little quips, has of course, one for a time lapse, with a little numbers tweak. 'Think you overcame a milestone in stride. Next thing it's 15 years later and you've been napping from unrecognized stress.'- Palaka
Now, after the long absence, they are returned to the same place. The motel is demolished, the old relations scattered in the wind, the world's in the state they didn't expect to see it.
I often ponder, how each of these people would chose their way in this new America. Which path would they follow?
Don't you?
Let's throw a wrench in the works.
Let's take one more step possibly leading into these now wildly popular 'multiverses'.
Everyone from the original JFC is back. But! Not the innocent instigator, the Don Quixote, the childlike beta model of super-intelligence, John. If it soothes your heart, an angel. He is not returning.
And again, it wouldn't be too difficult to imagine, knowing what's happening IRL, as the genXYZ, or whatchamacallit would say.
What then? What would our heroes do?
No need to travel in time that far, not yet.
All Further Days Of John From Cincinnati scenes written after HBO canceled the show were building on the premise of John presence in Imperial Beach. Our sequel fervently tried to hold on to the dream.
What happens when our characters give up, wake up and join the daily grind?
I got some rather misanthropic ideas about that, prepare to be disappointed.
'I'll take care of it my birthday after next' - Palaka
Who dived in to hold the stature's hand - Shaun, Kai or Butchie? Hmm....

Marc Ostrick says he filmed 13 episodes of JFC.
"John From Cincinnati, 13 episodes, TV Series 2006 – 2007 (executive producer/director/co-editor)"
Here's the link to Ostrick Production company filmography:
https://ostrickproductions.com/?page_id=5
Remember, we run campaigns, fund-raised money for ads in Hollywod Reporter, bird seeds, tried crowdfunding the second season of JFC.
Those were the times.
I so wish to get a peek at the films Mark Ostrick might keep. They could be stored in HBO vaults for what we know.
Copyright be damned. With the HBO.
Where's the time machine.
Makes one wonder, were some NDAs signed at the end of JFC filming? Are they usually signed in the entertainment industry? Is that even customary for such companies as HBO?
If not, then - hypothetically!- would anyone who had assess to the filmed and unreleased JFC scenes be able and willing to reveal some of their content? As an interview, let's say, for Vulture, Hollywood Reporter, Alan Sepinwall, James Poniewosik or anyone with the clout and interest? Or off the record? Or in a clandestine 'Deep Throat' style underground garage meeting?
Imagination runs wild.
What if that time has now come?
To discover what happened in the IB after John vanished for good.
Do we need to hear a narrator 'tell us something pretty'- as Swearengen grumbles to himself scrubbing blood off the floor in his saloon for the umpteenth time?
Who can take this responsibility? Not myself, no please no. Mitch, 'the big realist'- in the words of Cissy?
The comfort of any fictional story is in its impermanence. What's written, can be edited, deleted, replaced. There are as many writers as there are people in the world.
Let's say...
to be continued.........
What, no takers?
Walkara, Shrek, Spirit, the Founders?
Waxon, Skor, Captain?
Patrick/Myles, Eccles, Ray, Backinthegame, Cassie?
Notorious CC, Ciao Cinzano?
Who knows where they are keeping silence.
"In downward dog position".
What an out of this world (not exactly!) discovery I've just made browsing the JFC sprawling settlement.
Nothing in the JFC world is dead, and the proof is in the pudding, i.e. the thread What Are You Laughing At.

Funny little thing, been quietly chugging along here all that time, without a single soul around.
And here is another one widget, still working, Huntington Beach live camera.

In summary, as a wise man once said, manuscripts don't burn. Certain political movements be damned.
As to the time or times... we'll see. Could we turn the clock back? Who knows.
